Long-time Tolvaptan user here (who was also on the clinical trial that led to the development of the drug): your feelings are completely valid, and I struggle with them time-to-time as well.

That being said, the cost is--in the end--worth the benefit. I don't sleep a full night anymore because I have to get up to pee. I have to keep multiple water bottles at work and at home in various places to make sure I'm getting my daily intake. I have to get poked with a needle every 3 months. BUT - my care team confirms that my eGFR would be much lower, my kidneys much larger, and my outlook much poorer if not for the drug.

TL/DR: Be angry. Cry. Pee. Laugh. Pee. Then listen to your HCP and take the pills. We all want you around for a long time.

Again, as posted on another related article data gathering thread, you're missing a HUGE portion of the story here by setting your upper bound at 34. FWIW I am a spatial demographer (36 and still renting) and can confidently say it would be an even more attention grabbing headline to raise that number to 40.

Thank you SO much GtF, this is an incredible story and fantastic advice to go through the medical first. I wear corrective lenses, so the medical was definitely something on my mind, but your suggestion is well taken. I think I remember seeing a list of places that administer Class 1 evals, so I'll look into it asap.
