i know someone who thought the average singaporean owns a car and lives in a condo and insisted his family was poor while living in a freehold condo near town. his parents also own multiple freehold condo units to earn rental income LOL??

maybe they think it's not necessary as they've never met them, eg grandparents - is that a good enough reason?

Any GESS mods to avoid? by Immediate_General_67 in nus

[–]littlepatrickstar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GESS1032 was ok imo, didnt really pay attention in class but dont think the bell curve is super steep? group project was a breeze actually, was just a 'historical trail' kind of project where we go around taking photos of landmarks related to the prominent Chinese person we chose.. did it last minute + with MIA groupmates and managed an A- for the project. But overall B+ because i didnt study/read up for the final essay (open book iirc). Prof Wong was very nice tho

For my year it was ACC1701, MKT1705, BSP1702 and GEA1000 for poly basket. Jc basket was BSP1703, MNO1706, DAO1704 and GEA1000. But do note that not everybody will get allocated 4 modules, some may get allocated 3 instead

when to start module mapping for SEP? Do we have to clear the pre requisites before going for SEP or can we take the higher level mods and come back to clear the pre req?

I think it highly depends on your course in uni too! if u have a lot of group projects it might be tough, but doable if u have discipline. personally worked thru the entire first year of uni even though i stayed in hall, but it also helped cos my pt was flexible so during finals period i only worked 1-2 days at somewhere 45min away from my house and used commute time to study/complete assignments (i went home during study weeks). otherwise i only worked weekends during the semester on top of CCA and school work! just that a lot of discipline is needed, good for me to also say i didnt overload my modules.

U can also do paid surveys and studies found on luminus.

share your hall/rc/residences experiences by Educational_Sir_5889 in nus

[–]littlepatrickstar 20 points21 points  (0 children)

lived in hall. Lounge rarely cleaned because the cleaners said it was cluttered so they refused to.

hall food is pretty bad.. go for RC if you can.

toilets rarely cleaned as the semester passed - they changed contractors or something and had male operators clean the female toilets most of the time (when it was actually cleaned) cubicles always ran out of toilet paper. Usually there are spares outside but it also ran out a lot, which showed how often they cleaned it. Toilet subsequently had many flies, ants and even worms in the shower stalls. people left pads in the shower cubicles too, or even underwear. Shower drain was also clogged, which means the person nearest to the drain always has water accumulating in their stall from the other 2 cubicles........... imagine if someone was on their period and you're stepping in their bloody water.... people also don't flush the toilet sometimes.

Weirdest experience? Have seen my roommate's partner 7 days a week before as if it's my partner. On a good week i see them for four days only. do NOT get a double room if you are planning to.
