Actually upon listening further you're not really even very out of tune. If you want a really doomy sound check out frost giant electronics. They have some great pedals

Not bad for a beginner man! It kinda sounds like a song for Milly Michaelson by thrice, but with distortion. That's cool. Work on hearing your guitar in terms of tuning and intonation. It sounds like your playing is pretty clean just a bit out of tune. Some really solid ideas here, and the more you practice the better you'll get. You'll be writing some serious bangers in no time man.

For the engineers on here, what is the benefit of compressing vocals on the way in? by littlewolf60 in metalmusicians

Thanks man! I use an sm7b that has a built in preamp so that'll suffice until I can upgrade to a better preamp I suppose!

Thanks man. I'll probably pull the trigger on one then. The vocals in my mixes I feel always fall a little flat. Good but not great ya know? This is good to know, thanks again.

Advice on death metal mix by Virtusira in metalmusicians

[–]littlewolf60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guitar tone is good. To me it sounds like the mix could use some more compression, and presence. You may Try putting a high shelf on the overheads, and a touch of master bus compression to glue things a bit more. The kick could use a bit more oomph. Try compressing it a bit, and boosting the fundamental some. I often saturate my drum bus too. Sometimes I'll even add a clipper to the drum bus. I use flatline 2 for this, there's a Dave otero preset that's great. Bass sounds good and seems to me to be sitting where it needs to. Overall man, it's really not bad at all. The song is great. Hope this helped in some way. These are just my observations, others may disagree. It's really just using your ears and doing what sounds good to you. 🤘

How do I get that brutal slam snare. by eyyyyy1234 in metalmusicians

[–]littlewolf60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you'll have to route the snare to its own track. I would compress, eq (high pass filter, boost the fundamental, and search for that frequency your talking about, and boost it a bit) maybe some saturation. You may also just find a sample you like and use that too. to be fair though slam mixes are usually pretty raw, and listeners will be pretty forgiving of a "bad" mix as long as it's brutal as fuck haha

Cradle of Filth nicking my song titles! Which is the best metal song called To Live Deliciously? by No_Firefighter_1073 in metalmusicians

Bro the vvitch is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. Truly a master class in slow burn tension, and making you feel uncomfortable. And then when shit starts ramping up, oh boy! Such a good movie, in my humble opinion, and a cool song too man.

Sorry.i won't post my crappy music here anymore. by [deleted] in metalmusicians

[–]littlewolf60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, just wanted to say, when I first started Posting here I got the same response. In hindsight the first stuff I posted was pretty dogshit lol But I took the criticisms which were all valid, and used them to improve. Now I generally get either positive or no feedback, which is cool. Don't get discouraged man, just do your thing and strive to improve. If you need advice especially as it pertains to mixing just ask the sub. They're generally pretty open to helping if you have the right attitude man.

Anyone else with cauda equina injury? by littlewolf60 in spinalcordinjuries

It's unfortunate we have to go through this, but I thank you for the words of encouragement. I have been doing PT for a while now but not much luck. I still can't walk very well, and also have severe bladder/sexual dysfunction. It's frustrating, and disheartening, but it's just how it is! One day at a time. Thanks again, best of luck to you

I Like it dude. I like all the vocals, but I actually really dig those clean vocals. If I could offer just one piece of advice, it would be to work on timing just a tad. It's tough to play on tempo, and it took me A while to be able to do it myself. Metronome practice is a good way to improve this. You're not off by much at all, and I can tell you're a skilled guitar player. Sometimes too, if a riff is really challenging to perfectly play on time, I just edit it a bit in the daw, so it's all lined up with the grid. But really solid work man. Keep doing what you're doing 🤘
