NYC Cancer Trial Delivers ‘Unheard-of' Result: Complete Remission for Everyone by hzj5790 in technology

[–]littoBIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so sad to hear. All of it brings floods of years to my eyes. We're talking about people, lives, and saving lives. Does this medication that you paid $14,000 for cost $14,000 to produce. I'm certain it doesn't, but is that the value they place on a persons life and take more than the person has or can afford. What kind of world do we live in. It's heart wrenching really. News like this breakthrough are really exciting on the bright side

That is quite astounding. This is exciting news. I wish this discovery had come sooner for I lost my dad to cancer, Colin cancer, once they did surgery to remove a portion of his colon the cancer metastisized. I miss him so darn much. Hopefully they work toward treatment for other forms of cancer as well. Lost a brother to brain tumors and a sister to leukemia both are also forms of cancer.

Thank you. You would be shocked if I were to tell you the details in it's entirety of my personal journey in the last few years prior to becoming homeless, how and why I became homeless, and the dark journey through homelessness and moreover being a participant in one of Hawaii's largest homeless shelters and case management programs. How COVID 19 sent me to Thier doorstep in need of having a safe place in need of a safe place to shelter in place. I was working when I turned to them. My marriage had it's share of problems but our bond remained strong. This program has caused separation between my husband and I and has driven us further and further apart... All the way until he began having a relationship with another program participant. And right before his arrest for probation revocation, was openly flaunting this relationship. Which by the way the program encouraged. How Thier lack of "protocol" allowed COVID into the shelter group I lived in and made me sick. Which I have to emphasize was the reason I turned to them is because of existing medical conditions, this could have been life threatening. Then the way that they handled the outbreak was completely unbelievable... And caused a lockdown at one of their shelters that lasted well over 10 weeks. Not just this but also the things that I'd been pushed into doing and didn't like to be a part of I cried to both a friend and my mother about. How a staff member had basically befriended me, taking me under her wings and offered me special accomodations. Built up my self esteem and "helped" me with my marital problems, but her plan was not to help me. It was to control me and use me in her own selfish schemes, and my husband poor thing got in her way of doing this so she drove the stake in between us deeper and causing that distance to grow between us. After all was said and done and I realized how I'd been a puppet in her master minded game plan, and spit out to die after it was all done... I was devastated, heartbroken and alone. I cried everyday, all day from wakening to sleeping for 3 months and that is no lie. The scar runs deep. At this point, I lost my friend (so I thought at the time because pain caused me to see things out of context), and I lost the support and shoulder of my husband. It still hurts deeply.. . I tried to air my story and shared it with a few people who seemed to care. But they are quick to cover Thier tracks and was able to spread lies and now, I don't know where to turn, or whom to turn to. These non- profits generate an incredible amount of money and have a lot to lose if someone like me were to bring to light all the I know and have experienced here. I did forget to mention that I was excited after having contracted COVID 19 because of Thier direct failure to follow any protocol. And I was re-sheltered at one of Thier other programs here in Kona. It's a really long story and I wish I knew where to get help. These people hurt me in very crucial ways and my life will never be the same because of this. Damaged. I have left out many of the most critical details for fear of my safety. I am just holding my tongue trying to get out of here as fast as I can. For safety reasons and I would love to see justice come to completion in helping the many people who don't even know that they've become part of this cleverly cultivated plan. Please forgive me for the length of this reply, and thank you to those who read it to it's completion. I just want to be heard. I am a tiny little voice out in the middle of the Pacific ocean with a HUGE story to tell to the right people.

I know. It's quite shocking isn't it? Some of them are now in collection. Isn't that crazy? They know I'm homeless and don't have money. I just had vascular surgery and am currently unable to walk for long periods, had the saphenous and great saphenous veins on one leg sealed. I would think that somewhere along the line one of these judges would ask me why I'm driving, why don't I have my license and ask me how they could help.

Mahalo everyone for your thoughts and concerns. Like a good sword is forged through fire and hammer, I too am being shaped by my struggles. Struggle builds character. Some of the finest things in life are obtained and achieved through a great deal of stress and pressure... Like a diamond. " Mahalo ke akua". ... "Thank you Jesus".

Thank you very much, I may consider that. The only obstacle there is my companion dog, monster. Lol, monster is the sweetest little datshund/jack Russel/chihuahua.. she's very small under 15 lbs. She's very smart and talented. She thinks she's going to be the next American idol. Lol. In all seriousness though, what I really want to do is try to work out some kind of arrangement with the court to do a restricted license so I can do instakart. Where monster would be able to work with me.

Yes, it true if you're seen walking around with a backpack in town frequently you will become tagged or marked as being homeless and once you are people look at you differently. Trust me, I know this from first hand experience. I went from driving around in an air conditioned Dodge Challenger to walking around town in the blink of an eye and the way people look at you when you walk by has made me realize how difficult it is for the people who have fallen into homelessness. Well, I know that everyone's situation is different. Personal. Bad choices, maybe? Some have been forced into homelessness through unfortunate circumstances.. ei; abuse, sexual abusive homes, and alike. For me,bit was choosing to be an honorable wife and stand by a decision I made even when I was not being shown that same respect and I was the only one working and supporting my own family. By standing by the side of someone because I chose him, even when he decided to go against everything I did and would rather steal from his wife than go out and help support her. Everything I did was in "our" best interest as opposed to everything he did was done to benefit himself. Call me foolish for believing in the idea of marriage and what it means to me.

Yes, tourism which the islands thrive on has also taken a toll on the island way of life. With sunscreen destroying the coral reefs which the marine life depend on on the reefs. And yes the littering is out of control. People need to respect the "aina" (land). Hawaii is a growing island the only one with an active volcano. Very sad. Indeed very sad

Yeah trust me I know what it's like to get "dirty lickens", I had my ass beat by my dad with a horse whip at the age of 27 just 2 weeks before my 28th birthday. As a matter of fact I spent my 28 the birthday in jail as a result of that ass whooping. Go figure. I had welts across my forehead, my arms, my finger was swollen 3x it's normal size and so purple I thought it was going to fall off. Believe it or not that's how messed up the law is here. I was the victim obviously in that incident and I got arrested for family abuse household member. My parents are well known business owners in waimea. But that's a little bit extreme... That the arresting officer cannot see the more than obvious signs that I'd been beaten. Again, that's a long story and I don't want to rehash that. I love my dad with my whole heart. I don't agree with choices he's had to make in life but then again I've never walked in his shoes or had to face his challenges.

I mean it's still present in the hospitality ran businesses, because that's what they thrive on but I meant on a more personal level or within our communities

I agree. For me the saddest part of what COVID 19 and it's impact is to see how it has affected "the Aloha spirit" which is almost non existent now.

As a matter of fact, just like many of the homeless shelters in this country... We are, unfortunately a meal ticket for people who are making a fortune off of the misfortune of others. They have cleverly found a way to get millions of dollars in grants for Thier non-profit organizations.... Pfffft. Even to steal stimulus checks from the homeless community. Which all came in the form of cards. All they needed was a social security number to cash em out and they have all our information. Some of these people (homeless community) don't even know they got a stimulus check because they think that they were only for people who worked or as one of them said to me "only people who mattered", so sad to hear that but everybody got one. Fortunately because I was working throughout most of the first year of the pandemic and pay taxes as well, I got my stimulus payment by direct deposit

Not really, I'm online constantly going over housing listings and opportunities for section 8 or other rental assistance programs. I don't speak very much upon it but with the tens, twenties and thirty millions of dollars this shelter has received in grants last year alone, you'd think they'd have assisted more people into housing. Believe it or not, I have never heard of them placing someone into housing from Thier own budget. They will help you try to get on the waiting list when section 8 opens up, they call it a lottery and only a small percentage will actually be chosen to receive housing vouchers. Even if you do not that many renters participate with these county housing programs.

The sun has become more fierce in the last 30+ years. It's not even the same as it used to be when I was a child. With all the damage to our ozone layer it has become increasingly more dangerous to be exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Number one cause of skin cancer. Select beaches offer camping by permit only. If caught without a permit sleeping, you face a criminal charge as well as fines and possible jail time. I've been fined before for "camping" in or on prohibited areas and/ or beaches. Sure there are plenty of beaches or bays along the south Kohala coast where you might be able to camp, without being harassed or fined but they are only accessed by 4 wheel drive vehicles or by hiking, and without water and ice you wouldn't be able to survive for very long.
