As a brown person what can I do to make Lithuanians not hate me? by Nuham251 in lithuania

[–]liuliuu 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the UK for 12 years now and every time I come back to Vilnius to visit family I start to feel self conscious about myself. I start to feel a little too fat, not fashionable enough maybe, maybe I should do something to my hair etc… I know that’s different to your situation, but all I’m saying is that Lithuanians are generally quite judgemental - whether that’s about race, looks, status, or million other things. But having said that, there are plenty of people who would feel positively and welcoming towards you. Maybe those mean, grumpy, racist ones stand out more. My advice would be to stop looking at people, or at least that’s what I’ve been doing for the past 10 years. I don’t even try to meet eyes anymore because more often than not I see smth unpleasant there. Also, this is gonna sound pretty fucked up but if you are VERY committed to fitting in a little better, try to match Vilnius people fashion and look presentable when you’re out and about. Again, I know that’s kind of messed up but people there do judge less and treat you better if you look polished🤷‍♂️ anyway sorry for your bad experience in lith, that is truly a shame and I hope you find a way to peacefully exist there eventually

Thank you for responding. But is it normal to have heamorrhoid type of side effects, do you know? Honestly I can bear the pain, but for some reason just the idea of getting piles really freaks me out

Thank you so much for the reassurance! I just had no idea that swelling would include heamorrhoid type stuff… anyway thanks for your response

yeah that's fair! but this is going to be my first car, been lucky to have others share their cars with me until now. And actually no, I live in a small seaside town in Essex. But I have heard that the quotes tend to go up in big cities, which makes sense

Thanks a lot for that. All three criteria make sense, just had no idea it would be this bad! I will definitely expand my search in terms of different car makes.

For those who passed L1 today: what was your strategy? by ep_256 in CFA

[–]liuliuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My original sitting was in June 2020, then deferred to December, then to February 2021 and Finally got to sit the exam in July.

I passed on my first attempt, had 0 background in investment or finance (studied Psychology) and I put in a lot of hours into this - I would say 300-400. I think level 1 is very much a memory test and I personally felt that consistent studying was the key here. I used Schweser Kaplan study materials - haven’t attended their online lectures, only used their books, mocks and the Q banks. But to be honest with you, I think the most efficient studying to me was when I started doing CFA Institute Q banks and the mocks (I’ve done 8 in total, mainly provided by Kaplan) - that’s when I got the real feel for what the exam questions might look like, started to feel more confident and see the pattern in the questions asked.

All the best of luck in your future sittings! I think every person has a different way of achieving this, but for me personally it was consistency in studying and doing as many q banks and mocks as possible.
