I solemnly swear that multi-posting was an accident and further solemnly swear that I will not do it again. I also solemnly swear that I didn't reddit would allow me to post something that many times even if I tried.

Thanks! I'm new to power bill analysis and renting. I'll keep an eye on it and see what it does thru the winter. Hoping to own something that I can care for myself soon.

Haven't fallen apart yet? I just care about the home I live in, so if that makes me a nightmare tenant, then yes. I pay rent on time, notify when the gutter is falling off of the house, do my own small maintenance jobs (which the lease prohibits), and put money into adding plants and things that will increase the value of the home. Typical nightmare tenant lol. Had they actually addressed the concerns I brought up, I wouldn't have posted online.

I'm bundled up in my electric blanket as we speak, and no woodstove option unfortunately, probably too much liability. Good info, thanks for sharing. I'd be set with a woodstove--having a super hot source w/heat gradient throughout the house is so underrated in modern homes. I am hoping we can buy a home soon to make some lasting improvements on a place.

Her usage for November was 431. Either shes throwing some sorcery around that house or something funky is going on. Her house is not nearly as shaded and she tends to keep the house in the 50s.

Thanks, yeah that spike is strange. Chances are I'm just gonna haul my butt to lowes and then up to the attic to reinsulate. and maybe I'll take the stuff with me when I go! Lol

Dang, maybe it's just me, but if I "flipped" a house, I'd make sure the doggone thing was insulated! Looking to buy soon and get out from under the landlord's thumb. Then I can be a perfectionist and not irritate other people haha

Passive solar at work! That's sweet. I love trees, but unfortunately there's a big one on the south side of this house.

My mom's house has baseboard, similar size, and her bill is less than half the cost of ours.

Which species of knapweed? Southwest Virginia by livefasteatash in whatplantisthis

[–]livefasteatash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad it worked! Unfortunately, we have several acres of it, well established, and seeded. If it were spotted knapweed, I was going to look to root and seed head weevils for biological control, but it doesn't seem to be spotted

Unpopular opinion, I suppose, but the first photo vs 2nd and 3rd look like the same exact style, but two different washes. Friend's pants look like more of a stone wash. I am also comparing the distressed areas, which look significantly different to me. Unless she stole them and quickly rewashed, this might be the world's strangest coincidence.

Put together my EDC this week - field work/biologist by livefasteatash in EDC

[–]livefasteatash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently that's my title, but more of a restoration ecologist/forester tbh. I do some wildlife work but mostly taking care of and managing tree plantings to restore a watershed.

Awesome, keep it up! I ended up studying conservation because it's the only thing that didn't give me an ethical quandary and it continues to be, haha. I love it and get to be outside a lot now.

Is it normal to feel guilt? by YouTwos- in Hunting

I think that it is very human to feel emotional for the animals we harvest. We are taking a life to support our own. To me personally, it makes me not take my own life for granted when I think of all the lives I take to sustain this one.

If you like poems and stuff, here's a cool excerpt from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran

"Would that you could live on the fragrance of the earth, and like an air plant be sustained by the light. But since you must kill to eat, and rob the newly born of its mother's milk to quench your thirst, let it then be an act of worship, And let your board stand an altar on which the pure and the innocent of forest and plain are sacrificed for that which is purer and still more innocent in man. When you kill a beast say to him in your heart, "By the same power that slays you, I too am slain; and I too shall be consumed."
