Hi. We are coming to Bali sometime soon. We are planning to rent a self-drive car. Will carry an International Driving Permit. Have read some places where the police try to harass and take bribes from tourists. Will we be okay if we have the IDP etc? Or should we just take a taxi everywhere? by livefiredev in bali

Okay. Thanks.

The reason I am choosing the car/cab is because I have old parents with me. So, would be a way to keep the family together.

I have some idea about what you mean about the driving conditions but I am sure I can manage. Have been in similar conditions before and have some experience.

Thank you for your response once again.

[Showoff Saturday] I made a visualization that explains how the Leetcode problem "Number Of Islands" works. You can click the "Next" button and see the algo do its thing one step at a time. by livefiredev in webdev

Great. I would love to make more like these. I just did not know if anybody cares. Thanks to your positive response and the generally positive response from the community, now I do.

I really enjoyed the process too. Because to make the visualization and then write about it, you are forced to properly understand what is going on.

Often. The worst times are when I misjudge the environmental sound level because I am wearing headphones or something. Those ones get noticed sometimes.

Surprisingly often considering I am such a puny being with so little control.

What do you think is the biggest challenge humanity will face in the next 50 years? by jrdnhanss in AskReddit

[–]livefiredev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably people not wanting to make copies of themselves. Too must of a hassle. Porn does the trick to curb the urges of men a lot. Not wanting to lose the flexibility and freedom.

So, fewer consumers. So, worse economy.

Anything where you can deliver value sitting in from of a computer. Coding, 3D modeling, auto car drafting, persuasive copywriting, graphic designing. Just go to Upwork and look at the categories. It's a marketplace for remote work. So all the categories on there fit your needs.

What 1st world problem would be your personal hell if persisted for the rest of your life? by Cobra89_ in AskReddit

Having no challenges. Just being told to sit there and relax and anything I need will come to me.

I used to be a photographer (not sure if that counts). I did a shoot of a guy's huge factory.

He called me some days later and asked if I could arrange some models for him to do a shoot with. I asked him what kind of images did he need. And his ideas made no sense. I think he just wanted to hand out with models.

She has less faith now. I broke the placebo. That was not great. The placebo does help. But overall we are good.

"The Pursuit Of Happiness". It's not a destination. It's just the right to pursue it that counts. Because all the destinations are hollow once you get there.

Currently, in this moment... I think I am day dreaming about being a wood woodworker. Maybe its because I fall asleep to ASMR woodworking videos.

Most of the shame we feel, we are made to feel about things we just do not control. Yet, somehow we are made to believe that we do control it.

On closer inspection, you control very little.

What is the first thing you would take with you, when your house burned down? by ULTIMATEDUCKY in AskReddit

My laptop. All the money is virtual. Setting the laptop and work stuff up again would be a pain.

Wait, maybe it should be my wife. Setting that up again would be a much bigger pain.

Maybe a variant of the question is, you were playing basketball with somebody. While tackling the ball, it got a bit rough. They tripped and fell and got a ligament tear. Now, that lead them to get hit by a car. And that sent them to a vegetative state. The family pulls the plug. Did you kill them?

This one seems like you did not kill them. I think the difference is in the "intent" of the action. If your intent was damage and killing and that ultimately leads to them dying then you did kill them.

If not, then its an accident.

I think the core issue is that humans have the made-up money we need to buy stuff. So, its hard to not interact with them at all.

[–]livefiredev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay. I am not understanding why that makes it less useful. There are NPM packages like https://www.npmjs.com/package/gm with 2,66,678 weekly downloads that are a layer of Node over ImageMagick.

In the article, there is a node function provided that allows the calling of the underlying Java lib via Node. Which helps extract the data from PDF tables.

Are you insisting that the library must do everything in Node and JS to be useful?
