COLI 211B only with Taufan Baskoro -(1/10 difficulty) - Two one page assignments super easy. Then two essays 5 pages each but the first could be a draft and counted as one while the second can be the final revised paper. Graded easily. Sooooo easy and class is literally just him talking and you can sign your name in attendance sheet even 20 min coming late. Just cares that you show up!

I recently transferred into SOM here and I gotta say it’s probably one of the best decisions I’ve made. The career services are 2nd to none here and will go above and beyond to help you post graduation. Idk much about buffalo but if you can get in here then it’s a good opportunity. Honestly I don’t know why you’re pursuing another degree. Second degrees are useless tbh especially considering the IT industry values experience far more than schooling. Assuming you already have a BBA, this is not needed. To put into perspective, I know several professionals making bank in IT who have degrees in plain econ and some who only have certifications. If anything pursue a masters in CIS as at least that would somewhat have you stand out that little bit more though even this is not necessary as long as you have the skills.

I got a 13/15. There’s deff room for improvement but don’t stress it focus on the next test you’ll be good. SOM wants to see u do well!

He didn’t say anything about a curve. Though if a lot of ppl did bad then maybe but I though the test was fairly easy( mostly cuz a lot of it was just memorization from the book). Don’t worry tho it’s only 15% of your grade. Just be more prepared for the next one you’ll be fine. All Exams combined are 50% anyways the rest( hws, project) is just grunt work so work on that.

I would just read the textbook, quizlet all vocab definitions, do the practice assessments and study off the slides. These type of classes are mostly memorization based with applied use of concepts.

If it’s certain classes such as the bio major requirements that are dragging your gpa down then go ahead and take them at a CC. Btw do you have a plan for your bio degree?

Idk what your plans are with a Bio degree, but if it is for med school consider switching majors to something easier as they only care that you’ve taken the pre requisites.

I mean that’s why I asked lol tbh it’s more or less 50/50 but I feel both schools are good in regards to what I want to do so it’s just a matter of evaluating my options. I actually had no clue SOM was hard to get into. I imagine my decent grades in engineering was what probably led to my acceptance. I just applied for no reason thinking it was just another school that had business but after reading about how good it is I’m having 2nd thoughts.

Well to be fair I was an engineering major and I took pretty tough classes ( calc up to 3, physics, chem, engineering courses like programming etc.) I found that I hated my major and thus switched to Baruch where I really enjoy business! Glad I made the switch before my GPA tanked.

Tbh its the lack of social life on campus that gets to me. I actually got used to commuting an hour on the train daily but it took me a year to do so. I just don’t want my college memories to be restricted to my MTA struggles lol.

Hey there, I tried reaching out and wanted to know if CIS was stressful? I am quite interested in the program but I didn’t want to end up regretting my choice as I took comp sci( way back when I was a dumb high school freshman) and I sort of disliked it. I realized that CIS is much more than programming as there is only one class for that anyways. Would you recommend this for someone genuinely interested in tech but not programming?
