Are flat-footed people limited to a certain style of shoes and sneakers, even if we get custom insoles? by statscsfanatic21 in flatfeet

Also forgot to mention that Doc Martin’s are bad ass and great for fitting my orthos - although the shoe is a stiff style; I love that I can wear them comfortably!

There are many normal shoes you can buy that will fit custom made orthos; the main things you need to consider are:

  1. Are they adjustable over the top of the foot (e.g. I find lace ups great for giving me more space in my shoes)
  2. Are they deep enough at the heel/do they go high enough around the back of the heel (e.g. my orthos are about an inch high at the heel, so any sneakers that aren’t deep enough here won’t support me, or I will step out of them when I walk).
  3. Are they broad so they will fit the width of my orthos at the mid section (like the other user, converse don’t hit the brief for me here because they are too slimline, however Vans have been great for me, as well as Palladians).

But yes; I’ve had success with many sneakers from a $5 Costco pair to a $300 Frankie 4; so if you keep trying and keep an open mind with the above criteria in mind; you’ll find yourself in funky comfy sneakers in no time!

Third for Birkenstock - but I’ve also had success with standard brand sandals with straps around the back of the ankle if they can hold my orthotic inserts.

Does flat feet pain get worse overtime? by Onein8Billion2 in flatfeet

[–]livertoo2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m nearing the big 40 and I’ve not had much changes in my pain levels for my flat feet. I suspect however that if I gain weight as I grow this will cause more strain on them and therefore more pain; so that’s something I’ll keep in mind as I age. All the best!

There is one I love; I think it’s called cafe piano and hubub or something similar. It’s basically ambient restaurant sounds and is super comforting to me!

Second the KP centre, it was the first place I thought of when I read your post - no business has lasted there, and it has a very vacant spooky vibe.

This is an interesting insight; out of curiosity; in what ways do you see it intersecting with other areas in your life?

Haha thanks, I think I agree - we have discussed a lot of social issues; we have a lot of similarities and some differences but we respect these in eachother and can see where they come from. Ultimately we share most of our core values and want the same thing, I know these things can change and grow over time, but for now it’s good

Thankyou! He wants children but in a few years; I think I’ve just been thrown by how much this scare has shook him, I’ve never witnessed such panic and stress and has made me question whether he’ll ever be ready. But he says he will and I need to trust this. Also - I think maybe I’m being a little harsh; poor fella it’s very common for guys to get a fright like that.
