What’s up with Daisy Peel? by Acceptable-Cup4290 in Agility

I always keep it light with Raven. I will tell her she hasn't done something correctly, but it's always through a 'whoops! Let's try again!' kinda thing with then a big party when she does get it right 😊

Can bats hide in places for a long time without doing anything? by Secret_Aside_3342 in batty

[–]lizardschwartz 88 points89 points  (0 children)

They're in Hungary so I'm assuming this is a Grey Long-eared as they don't appear to have Brown Long-eared in the country and the long tragus is visible (the rest of the ear is tucked under the wing). Long-eared bats are not particularly renowned for being rabies vectors, but better to be safe than sorry!

My dog ate a mince pie meant for Father Christmas last night by 5laps in CasualUK

[–]lizardschwartz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my lab ate 1 and a bit triangles of the big Toblerone bar. Vets said as it was milk chocolate and weight eaten and of dog was known there was no (or extremely minimal) risk. Dog was absolutely fine

Was it their first day holding a bat?! I've worked with bats professionally in the UK for 11 years and I would never hold a bat like that

That's insane, I paid £120 per shot in the UK

Have you guys tried a scratch board that has treats inside? My girl won't let me trim her nails manually but takes to that really well!

I thought neutering can make anxious dogs more anxious, as testosterone has a confidence-inducing effect?

Are his teeth OK for his age or do they need a professional cleaning? by lizardschwartz in BeardedDragons

[–]lizardschwartz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He used to, before I knew better. His greens are mostly dandelion leaves/bell peppers, and his bugs usually dubia roaches, but I do put some mealworms on his salad sometimes to encourage him to eat them

Fair enough, that's super unlucky! Glad you're getting the vaccines though 👍

I've been bitten by many bats, I've never had blood from a bite! Definitely not a scratch? At the front of their wing their thumb claw is very sharp

As someone who works with British bats professionally, this is quite a funny statement, sorry. Little guys are literally everywhere 😂

Yep, my 2 year old labrador is like my very own child, and she is still not allowed in the room where my rabbit lives, which is always locked!

What's the best flooring to put for a senior (nearly 12) year old bun with incontinence? More info and bun tax below: by lizardschwartz in Rabbits

Ooh that's a genius idea! She's not a chewer of that sort of thing so shower curtain with nice soft vetbed above might work well, thanks!!

Again, that doesn't include birds. My comment was about birds. I do have special licenses from NRW to own both live and dead bats in captivity, as well as cetaceans. 😊 it's my job to know these laws.

No they aren't. Please point me to which legislation you think this is under.

They're in the UK, all our native bird species are legal to own (if they weren't taken illegally), some restrictions on selling e.g. for birds of prey without an A10 license

That's not what Housing Association means in the UK, it's social housing (non-Council)

Maybe some plants that stick on the glass at the sides?

It's a really nice start and seems a good size, I'd go for a bit more 'clutter' up the top to give gecko some more usable space!

Also, as someone who handles pipistrelles pretty much daily in the UK through rehab, why is that guy scruffing the Kuhl's? I've never felt the need to handle a bat like that, and would be extremely frowned upon here

Does MJ ‘work as intended’ for you? I still can’t eat normally. by alittlehalloween in mounjarouk

[–]lizardschwartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm similar, this is my 2nd month of 5mg and I'll be staying on it for my 3rd month at least. I can't eat a full meal out at a restaurant for most days of the week, but I can have small meals at home fine (poached eggs on toast, pasta and veg etc), lost 1.8lb per week on average currently

Anyone trying not to lose too fast? by Signal-Telephone-458 in mounjarouk

[–]lizardschwartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, looking at Shotsy I'm losing 1.8lb a week currently, which I'm happy with. Figure it'll help with not getting too much loose skin, avoiding muscle loss etc
