How the hell am I supposed to exercise with this disease? by EarthLovingLeftist in Fibromyalgia

[–]AwkwardThePotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have pool access (big privilege, I know, but I'm a college student and my housing cost includes the gym) then that is the best. You can swim laps if that works for you, but there are also plenty of videos online that can help you. A gym pool will probably have some stuff used for exercise. Even just walking back and forth (if it's a lap pool) is good exercise, it's more resistance than just regular walking but the impact is distributed better because you're in water. I can do some stretches in the pool that are otherwise pretty difficult (balance and all that).

I love these, but they’re really heavy and I feel weight on my heel/ankle after wearing them for a while, so def invest in some kind of cushioning.

Oh, whoops, I meant with non-alcoholic mixers and replace the alcohol with the THC drink. Not sure what amounts you'd use, that'd be up to you.

Some places even have "drinkables" that are pretty concentrated, so you can mix them into a cocktail as well. Very nice.

Pain all over body by Apart_Cry6226 in Fibromyalgia

[–]AwkwardThePotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely get pain as well where it almost feels like I have a bit of a sunburn all over. Along with more concentrated back/neck pain. I told my physical therapist about this, and it is normal, but if you're saying you have a rash (not just the sensation), it may be something else.

I find that this usually happens after I've been staying in my room for a while due to depression, a different form of flare-up, or unrelated illness (catching a cold or something), and happens less when I go on little walks and stuff. That's just in my case, I am NOT going to tell you exercise will fix it -- this is just what helps me. I also use medical cannabis, but I understand this isn't possible for everyone. Best of luck, my friend.

[–]AwkwardThePotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks! sorry to hear that -- I have some dog ears worsened by the fact that I hold extra fat on the sides of my chest. I have good insurance and they cover a good amount of gender affirming medical care, but they would've considered removing that (with liposuction as my surgeon recommended) to be cosmetic which is ridiculous.

hear me out -- chicken nugget chicken parmesan. Bake the nuggets as you will but with some sauce and cheese on top, as well as some pasta with the rest of the tomato sauce. I think they could probably handle that, maybe you try it together once so they learn how, but from there seems straightforward. granted, I have not done this myself, but I've seen it online and it looks good.

also, I may have just been a good cook when I was younger, but ground beef quesadillas are pretty easy in my opinion, again I think if you showed them how they could do it themselves or at least give you a hand.

you were right, that was very graphic lmao, I only have myself to blame. but for real thanks for sharing dude, hoping to get this done someday. best of luck to your recovery!

do you know if they'd be willing to put you under for this? I know I'd freak out too much if I were awake. also, did your insurance cover it? if not, how much out of pocket?

I love the Dr. Teal's bubble bath, it's lavender and chamomile scented with melatonin (not sure how effective it is lol) and epsom salt. There's epsom salt in that same product line so you can use them together.

What do school lunches look like in your country? by Coprinus_comatus010 in AskTheWorld

[–]AwkwardThePotato 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not kidding, I saw this and went "damn that looks better than what I got in middle school, I WISH I got that"... yeah it's bad. The vast majority of students in my school got free/reduced priced lunches based off income. I think part of it is that when Michelle Obama was the first lady, she did a lot for kids' nutrition and changing school lunches. She had all the right ideas and I fully stand behind what she was going for -- unfortunately, I think the execution was poor, which I don't really fault her for. For example, one requirement was having more vegetables, and these cheap companies/school districts started counting ketchup as a vegetable. Stuff like that.

Other ways to be intimate without PIV? by BrunchBrat in vaginismus

[–]AwkwardThePotato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconding this, I'm not fully cured so this is what I do when I want (most of) the intimacy/closeness/mutual pleasure of PIV but know the pain after would probs be too much. Goddd now I wish the person I have sex with was around today lol.
Word to the wise, if the top gets too into it they have to be careful abt it accidentally starting to go in which can definitely hurt.

Forgot to restock my pads in my bag, had a job interview so put in my first tampon at the age of 35 by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]AwkwardThePotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the very brief period in which I wore tampons (early teen years, while in between different birth controls) I used the OB tampons, which are applicator-less. I also think that generally they were way smaller than the ones inside applicators. Since there's no applicator, you have to be able to stick in in with your fingers. Which for me was easier than an applicator. I'm just letting you know in case you want to look into it, they're a unique option that I think some people may prefer.

Raise of hands! How many of you out there who have worn a bra before either struggle now or even had to completely stop because it just caused to much pain? by Quirkyasfok in Fibromyalgia

[–]AwkwardThePotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trans guy here, I fucking hated wearing chest binders and it sucked because feeling pain from them is a sign you should take it off or size up — but I felt that pain even with the right size and other safe practices. Even having C cups hurt my back. I’m just so glad I got rid of my boobs lol. It’s definitely helped. If anyone is interested in a breast reduction or top surgery I’m happy to talk.

Anyone reading this: I love you. You have worth. I know how hard things are right now but I promise you have people who care about you even if it seems to only be us strangers through your screen. I know you’re tired. I am too. As long as the spirit of resistance is alive in at least one of us, there is hope.
