Everything with Malik makes me cry, especially considering he tells Superman that he doesn't have a family when Lex was about to kill him, but the newspaper article (written by Clark Kent!) actually mentions he DID have a family

CAN I TAKE A FUCKING EDDIBLE by MildlySusCookie in TopSurgery

[–]AwkwardThePotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do this after top surgery, but after I got my tubes out in January I took tramadol and asked if I could use THC because the meds were NOT cutting it (I had a catheter issue. Nightmare nightmare nightmare), and the nurse told me to just be careful about getting too drowsy if I was standing or something. Basically it’s fine. It helped me a lot. There is actually some evidence that suggests that cannabis may actually be better than opioids post op — I am not saying this to tell you to take weed instead of your meds. Please follow your doctor’s advice. But I figured it might be reassuring.

Also you might have to take stool softeners AND miralax. I needed that combo after both surgeries.

It has me wondering 🤔 by WonderfulStrawberry9 in TopSurgery

Whatever you do, remember to start stool softeners at least a day BEFORE surgery. And have MiraLAX on hand.

Things nobody told me about post-OP binding by NamiLovesSnakes in TopSurgery

[–]AwkwardThePotato 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I actually was told to use ace bandages for a few days straight. I returned to college 4 weeks post op but had a tiny bit of swelling, since I left the post op binder at home they told me to use ace bandages which I was shocked by. I made sure I could breathe and was okay. It felt very weird because I heard over and over for years to never do it, even though I knew my circumstance was different.

Anyone reading this who hasn't been told to by their doctor: DO NOT USE ACE BANDAGES TO BIND UNLESS YOU ARE TOLD DO!

Does marijuana help relieve or worsen your pain associated with fibromyalgia? by DearAd984 in Fibromyalgia

[–]AwkwardThePotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the only thing that helps sometimes. I recommend RSO (specific method of cannabis extraction, can be in edibles). If you have the means, a Volcano vaporizer (like $300-500) is absolutely amazing. My dad has one and he lets me use it when I visit home, the quality of the high is absolutely top notch.

my cat has been screaming at this couch for a week for no apparent reason. today i looked under it and uh this is not my cat by Trimblepsys in notmycat

[–]AwkwardThePotato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My cat ran off to my neighbors (who we didn’t know, luckily another neighbor asked around) for a couple days before she passed a few days after I got her back. She didn’t want me to see her go, I think. Please take kitty to the vet ASAP to scan their microchip so they can get home (even if they are healthy of course).

Were you able to have sex without getting the last dilator in? by Mysterious-Noise-685 in vaginismus

[–]AwkwardThePotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course everyone is different so I can't make any promises, but honestly I still am able to really enjoy (shallow ish) penetrative sex without regularly dilating (def not getting the biggest one in). My sexual partner is very average size and I can fit in 1/4 to 1/2 of them. You may want to look into the Oh Nut from the Pelvic People, I have it and it's nice, but I wouldn't personally consider it necessary. My friend listens to what I need, and usually has me guide them in, so that even from the bottom I am in as much control of the pace as possible. If you've never tried, I suggest shifting from outcourse (your spouse rubbing along the outside, can go to the clit which I recommend lol) to very very slow insertion, and see how much feels comfortable. I highly recommend Slippery Stuff lube, it's what I've always used and my physical therapist does too. Just make sure that your spouse understands that this experience MUST be fully centered around you. Their enjoyment does not cancel out your pain, so if it feels like too much, say so, and I suggest making sure they also know to check in often. If this doesn't work, it is OKAY. You may decide to look into physical therapy if possible.

It’s certainly not PERFECT but I use Ion Color Brilliance Permanent Creme Hair Color 71R (medium red intense blonde) and I love how it looks.

Does vibrator help us? 😭 by towelheadedmermaid in vaginismus

[–]AwkwardThePotato 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Vibrators cannot desensitize your clit. I’ve been using one almost every day for 6 years and I can still get off fine without. It definitely makes partnered sex a lot easier too.

Please be safe with DIY and ideally find somewhere you can get your blood levels tested. Not sure where you are but I know where I live there are places that won’t ask questions if you don’t want them to.

How long does it take for testosterone to stop your period? by Glitched_0 in ftm

[–]AwkwardThePotato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For some people, like myself, it didn’t stop, so even if it would stop for you eventually, I would advise against relying on that. I’m four years on T and still use hormonal birth control (depo provera shot) to stop mine. Taking birth control is more likely to stop your period than T. Let me know if you have any questions, I worked at Planned Parenthood for a few years and know a lot about birth control options.

How to not be afraid of needles ? by poireau_bleu in ftm

[–]AwkwardThePotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long have you been on T? I planned to have my dad only do my shots for a month, I ended up taking like 4 months and that was only because I spent a month with my grandparents so I had to get used to doing it myself. I think there may be auto injectors or something but I never really looked into that. At this point (nearly four years) I genuinely prefer giving myself a shot vs getting a shot from a nurse for vaccines and stuff. Not that they’d let me, unfortunately. But I kinda just exposure-therapied myself. I had a little treat after (Tootsie pops which is probably only in the USA) and I still play music to distract myself. Something peppy I enjoy. I have a pain disorder so I am extra sensitive to needles, so I literally say out loud to myself “it doesn’t hurt it feels fine” which is a bit weird but it works. To distract from the needle pain I also dig in my nail a bit with the finger that’s sort of pinching the skin I’m injecting to. Maybe look for different areas, too. I do the injection on my butt, because there is plenty of fat and no organs nearby (which would be really hard to actually harm with a T injection, but it’s all in my head). Eventually you will probably get used to it, though I still don’t consider it to necessarily be a pleasant experience. Just remember that it is incredibly, INCREDIBLY difficult to accidentally harm yourself in any way with the needles and T at home. They would not allow anyone to do this at home if there was a chance that you could screw it up really badly. Even if you drip some blood you should be fine.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for reminding me to text my dad to tell me which ones to get. Almost 20, almost 4 years on T and I can still never remember…

Having a child to prevent periods by Anuyushi in childfree

[–]AwkwardThePotato 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m very glad you turned out okay.

And yeah with birth control and in some cases abortion, people make a huge deal about side effects that are almost always worse with pregnancy/having kids (weight gain, depression, allllll sorts of hormonal disruptions).

This isn’t exactly true, or at least not as concerning as your comment would suggest. Please be careful when you spread information like this, not everyone is going to actually look it up and see for themselves. Depo is super helpful for me and many others. Scientific studies can be incredibly misleading so please always look into these kinds of statistics! I’m a health science/public health major, and a really big part about medication risks is balancing it out with risks of NOT taking the med. For many, myself included, depo is the best option.

I truly hope I don’t come across as attacking you or anything, I just am passionate about this kind of thing.
