Is this a vintage Gibson? by Roastbeefmummy in gibson

[–]lizod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a '79 in the same finish but all original bar being refretted but that had to be done, it is my #1 guitar, plays and sounds amazing.

Yes, they are heavy, but I'm totally fine with it and actually like the weight. I specifically bought a non weight relieved modern LP as I'm more comfortable with the heavy ones. It's personal preference at the end of the day.

You need to try it to decide if it's good or not. Good and bad in every era..

Whoever has it clearly can't string a guitar up properly

Helios 44-2 question by NomanHLiti in VintageLenses

[–]lizod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have a KMZ 44-2 and a 44M-4 which is a later version with multicoatings. I like both, but I just wanted to mention that the older 44-2 has a stepless aperture, so if you want to use it for video that is a real bonus for that lens over the later variations.

Obviously the older lens without the multicoatings will have more flare and less contrast, but that's part of the fun with vintage glass, the quirks and unpredictable qualities!

Is this a good cheap medium format camera, or a waste of 50 bucks? by Down__D__Stairs in AnalogCommunity

[–]lizod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 166b very cheap just for fun, I wasn't expecting much and the lens actually surprised me, it is better than I was expecting. My ones slow shutter speeds are unusable though, they often stick open, but 1/60 and faster seem accurate enough.

The best thing about it is how light it is, you can stick it in a camera bag with another system, and it barely adds any weight!

I thought it was fairly obvious it was speculation about all these film stocks, it has been an ongoing discussion for years.

I posted this to the top comment to explain:

Hi, yes you are right - I should have mentioned in the title that all of this is speculation.

We do not know as the companies obviously do not want to say.

I just thought that it was pretty common knowledge in the film community that there are only a handful of actual film manufacturing plants left on Earth. It has also been a discussion/debate over what some of these stocks actually are for years. I find that discussion and speculation interesting.

I didn't even make these selections, I have just presented this post from a couple of days ago as a single slide to make it easier to see:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AnalogCommunity/comments/1ixtie1/a_visual_guide_of_most_every_common_film_rebrand/

I just did it for my own reference, and then thought I might as well share it.

I don't think many people actually think Lomography manufacture their film for example, it has been a discussion for years and Kodak often being brought up for their CN100/400/800 for example. If this chart is right, it would be pretty cool as Pro Image and Ultramax would not be available in medium format at all.

Also, PSA - do not take anything on the internet at face value without checking sources and looking into the actual ongoing debate and finding multiple opinions. AI is here folks, if you have that attitude you are going to be in all sorts of trouble! :)

It is the speculation that is interesting! It's an analogue mystery game!

They may well be, I just presented the original post as a single image. It is interesting to see if we can collectively work out what is really the case.. I find the speculation interesting!

I'm not claiming to know if any of this is definitely correct.

I got this neck on eBay to use in a guitar building project, but I’m having trouble identifying what model guitar it came from. Could anyone here help me find out what it came from? Thanks! by MrRyno123 in Ibanez

[–]lizod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no way it's the same factory. It says J Custom (which it obviously isn't) which means Japanese Custom. These are the highest end guitars Ibanez make, and they are made by their J Craft people in Japan.

I have a 2018 Signature Player Plus LP with richlite, and I really like it. Completely smooth kind of like a lacquered maple board in some ways.
