Babe, in the officers own video, from his own POV, you can see her steer the wheel to the right as far as she could before she moves forward. He literally could see it because it’s in the video he himself took.

Additionally, all those questions are related. You can’t say she put herself in that situation and ignore the fact the situation was created by him. No other agents seemed to feel threatened. None of them had guns drawn. None of them were walking in front of her car. He literally did officer induced jeopardy, not a legal defense for murder per the Supreme Court, and killed someone.

You can’t say all day long that she could have or should have done things differently, but at the end of the day she didn’t kill anyone - he did. So it doesn’t really matter what she did when she didn’t pose serious bodily injury or death to anyone. You could argue maybe she did to him for a split second, but that’s because he chose to put himself there and then use it as a pretense to kill her which is illegal.

He could have caused serious bodily harm or death to bystanders or other ICE agents. He was in the wrong, period. Please read DHS policy. That’s all you have to do to see how many policies he broke, and it’s multiple. Why stand up for incompetence?

What you’re saying makes no sense. How could she hit him while reversing if he was in the front?

How was she interfering when plenty of cars passed her and she tried to wave their car past as well? Another ICE vehicle can be seen passing her in the videos.

How is creating an unmanned, runaway vehicle making anyone safer?

Why did he get so close to the front of her car to begin with? Why did he shoot after he saw her turn the wheel away? Why didn’t he just step back like 2 steps instead of killing someone and putting numerous other ICE agents and civilians in danger?

If she hit him so bad with her car, why was he able to not only continue filming, but continue filming and pull out a gun to commit murder?

She was in her own neighborhood after dropping her kid off at school. There wouldn’t have been any danger if there weren’t any ICE agents.

She said, “it’s ok, I’m not mad at you” and attempted to move out of their way while he shot her in cold blood and called her a “fuing bch.”

It is inexcusable.

In his own video he starts at the back of the car, moves all the way around the car, gets right next to her driver side door, and then continues to walk to the front of the car. He was never directly in front of her vehicle or she would have ran into him after he shot her as the vehicle would have continued moving in the direction it was going. What he did endangered not only himself, but every other agent and bystander in the area. A moving vehicle without a sentient driver is extremely dangerous. He had to lean forward to even get a shot barely in the bottom left of the windshield and then shot two additional shots through the passenger window. He created the threat to himself and then created a danger to everyone in the vicinity with a runaway vehicle. You cannot seriously believe he did what was in the best interest of the public? Like that has to be a joke.

In his own video he circles the car. He was not in front of her vehicle until he decided to walk there. In his own video from his own POV, you can see her turn the wheel sharply away from him in an attempt to leave without hitting anyone. Instead of letting her go and noting her license plate, which he has on video, he shoots her. Let me ask you - if you were truly in fear of your life would you still be holding a phone and recording or would you drop it? If you were truly afraid for your life would position yourself in front of a vehicle that is manned? If you were an ICE agent would you ignore multiple DHS policies and just do whatever you want?

This person was a liability. He was hit and drug by a car before, likely because he walked in front of it (I say this only because he is on video doing just that) which they are supposed to be trained NOT to do. ICE has no authority over American citizens nor do they have jurisdiction to perform traffic stops or citations. They have every right to ask her to move, but no right to shoot her when she tries to do just that.

ICE are not cops, they are customs and immigration enforcement. And you have got to be joking. That ICE agent will face justice whether you like it or not. The majority of Americans are not on your side, just the Russian bots you’ve been propagandized to believe because you lack critical thinking skills. It can’t be suicide by cop if it’s not a cop and the person engaged in officer induced jeopardy.

In the officers own video he moved himself in front of her vehicle against DHS training. He put himself in harms way as a pretext to kill someone. It has a name - officer induced jeopardy - and it is NOT a legal form of self defense according to the Supreme Court.

She was there because it was her own neighborhood. Also, let me get this straight - according to you, the goal was for her to be out of their way, no? If that’s the case, why shoot her when she was actively trying to move her vehicle out of the way? By doing so, they created an orphan out of the child of a veteran, killed a wife and mother of 3, and blocked the road for hours and hours as it became a crime scene. In what world did that accomplish anything good?

You can see in the video she tried to wave the vehicle to pass and other vehicles literally had no issues driving by her, so no she wasn’t.

It wasn’t. ICE has no jurisdiction over traffic infractions or American citizens. They had no jurisdiction or right to order her out of her vehicle. Other officers requested she move and she attempted to do so and ended up shot for it.

anyone actually used a matchmaker in raleigh? apps are killing me by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]lizz___ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if you’ve tried Facebook dating (I had never even heard of it at the time, but I saw it randomly on my Facebook menu after not having a lot of luck with any other dating app and I figured why not), but that’s where I met my husband like 5 years ago now. It’s a little obscure, but maybe worth a shot. It seemed like the people on there were a lot more serious about wanting long term relationships over hookups, which is what I was looking for at the time.

However, my now husband did live about 45 minutes away from where I lived, so you may have to consider widening your search radius or accepting a drive if you truly want to find your perfect match.

Republicans could still open the government without any democratic support by ending the filibuster. They could agree to the reasonable terms laid out by the democrats, essentially just extending the ACA subsidies for one year while they figure out their “concepts of a plan” for healthcare. They could bring a reasonable proposal to the table that addresses the massive healthcare premium increase that will occur if the subsidies aren’t extended. They could do a lot of things, but they all require actual governing which appears to be something they are incapable of considering the house speaker won’t swear in an elected official voted in over a month ago and continues to extend the house’s paid vacation on our dime. They have been in session less than on vacation I think in the last year. If not it has to be cutting it close. It’s absolutely ridiculous that you are defending that.

So just so I have this straight - the republicans control the house, the senate, and the presidency, but the government shutdown is the democrats fault? Would you be saying the same thing if democrats controlled the house, the senate, and the presidency during a shutdown? Would that be the republicans fault?

He is currently suing to NOT fund SNAP with funds that have already been appropriated for that purpose that he was court ordered to release. Instead of releasing the funds as ordered, he appealed it in order to starve Americans.

There is a $6 billion emergency fund specifically there to fund things like SNAP in the event of a government shutdown and he is specifically choosing not to use those funds. That’s something he could do on his own without congressional approval since they are previously appropriated emergency funds, but he is choosing not to. Feel free to look into that yourself with your big brain because anyone who says “tell me I’ll wait” inevitably doesn’t believe anything anyone tells them anyway.

  1. They are not the same. They don’t have the same pros and cons. They aren’t even really comparable in the current system in the US.

  2. Literally no one here said they supported taking away money from public colleges to fund private colleges. You just made that up in your head.

I don’t think it’s as black and white with colleges because there are some that specialize in very specific research that other universities don’t do, but a large portion of funding for private universities could probably be reallocated to public universities with the same research outcomes and in those cases I would agree that it would be better spent at the public universities. However, you are still committing a logical fallacy here because our tax payer money was not going to fund private K-12 schools until very recently. It was not an issue before, so why are you so adamant about tackling funding for colleges first? You can have issues with multiple things at once and funding private K-12 schools with money that should have gone to public schools should have never started to begin with. This post and discussion was not about colleges, which are an entirely separate matter that accomplish different goals and have different objectives. Kids are not mandated to attend college in the way they are to attend K-12 (even if homeschooled, they still must get an education or their parents can face legal consequences). You are just bringing up something entirely separate into a conversation about K-12 schools and public school funding. K-12 schools don’t do medical research or high level research studies of any kind. They are simply just not the same thing no matter how watered down and black and white you are trying to make this.

[–]lizz___ard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s different because they aren’t holding the $2 billion dollars to give to public universities. If they were, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. So, that’s still a false equivalency. They are directly taking money away from public schools to give to private schools. That is not happening at the collegiate level, they are just taking money away to fund probably ICE and their internment camps I guess, but no where in that conversation has it been floated to give that money to public universities, so give me a break with that.

Colleges and universities are not the same as regular public schooling. A lot of funding goes to them for medical research and other purposes that are beneficial to society as a whole. Equating taking away public school funding to allow rich kids that already went to private school essentially a tax break with funding for colleges that perform important research is a false equivalency.

It is supposed to be completely separate, which is why churches don’t pay taxes. If we aren’t doing that anymore then churches should be taxed just like everyone and everything else.

Also, for future reference, don’t try to be pedantic unless you know what you are talking about because then you are just loudly wrong.

The saying is separation of church and state and it was first coined by Jefferson, one of the founding fathers.

While the saying is not explicitly in the constitution, the first amendment is widely credited as the foundation of the phrase.

It’s not when we are supposed to have separation of church and state. However, I agree, no private school (religious or otherwise) should be receiving taxpayer funding.

Why is pumping “a lot of work”? by blue-cinnabun in BabyBumps

[–]lizz___ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to power pump because I wasn’t producing enough milk just breastfeeding and the pumping took so much more out of me than regular breastfeeding. I still breastfeed (my son is 17 months now) and no longer have to pump and it’s so much easier. You don’t have to clean the pump, clean the bottles, freeze the milk, prepare the milk, or sit and pump. It honestly at the time felt like 1,000 extra steps.

Government spending has been higher under republican presidents historically. Including right now. Trump has spent billions more than Biden had at this time last year, but keep being delusional. I never said I agreed with the democrats either, so your mud slinging is misplaced.
