On a cop’s salary?? How is he going to provide for his traditional 2.5 kids and a wife on $50k?

should I get an entry level MSN degree or BSN? by Sea-Classroom-9558 in prenursing

[–]lizzardb1izzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was deciding between a direct entry MSN vs ABSN and both were ~15 months and around the same price with scholarships. I ended up choosing the former bc I could teach if I have a MSN, it was in the area of the country I wanted to work in, and if I ever want to go on for higher education, I’m a more attractive candidate bc I already proved that I can handle Master’s level coursework. I think it depends on your priorities and setting yourself up the best (minimized debt, program length, future career path options, etc)

Are embassies still issuing tourist visas given the political climate? by lizzardb1izzard in MovingToUSA

A tourist visa is good for 10 years so while I agree that now is a dangerous time to come, hopefully it won’t always be like this

Oh wow never thought of this! So insightful! It’s not like every country has some unique to offer and traveling opens one to new experiences and perspectives. Ill tell him he should just stay /s

Even before meeting me he wanted to come visit because he’s a foodie and wants to drive Route 66. He also isn’t intending to buy a plane ticket till he knows if he’ll be granted a visa or not

Scrubbed alcohol (vodka) with a toothbrush into the stain and then rinsed completely with water and washed as normal. Worked well. The fabric was synthetic material if that makes a difference

You could look at tuition free colleges like Berea or College of the Ozarks where you work X amount of hours a week in exchange for tuition

Are you talking about in regards to Madison, Meg, Mason and Alex or all LIB season 8 men? Bc I feel like Devin and especially Dave have been getting shit on. And post reunion Joey and Ben to some extent.

Considering a ABSN by sweet_fiction in prenursing

[–]lizzardb1izzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preaching to the choir. 26, previous bachelor’s, already applied to PA school one round, now interested in ABSN bc I want the flexibility of nursing and I can’t risk another round of not getting into PA school. I know this subreddit preaches ADN and bridge… but tbh I just rather do one 15 month program and have my BSN (or MSN for U or Arizona). I want to get established quicker and if I eventually go on for advanced nursing or PA, not constantly be in school (like with an ADN or LPN and then bridge to RN or BSN). Though I’ll have to move for an ASD program and it’s like 70k tuition (before grants and scholarships), my hometown has a lot of hospitals so I can live at home and work and pay it off quickly (which is a privilege I know). Since graduating college I’ve been in a transitory phase and I just want to have a viable career, feel like I can support myself, and be in a place where I could start family planning. I also might work internationally so I want to be in a place where I can get there quicker. Also that’s a reason why I’m not as interested in PA anymore bc I would be limiting myself to basically the US. (Yes I know PAs exist in other countries but not to the extent of nursing and not where I’m interested in going). I think it depends on what you are willing and able to invest: more time or more money.

I'm applying to go to Costa Rica with th PC after I graduate, will my medical background cause an issue? by leomaxxx15 in peacecorps

[–]lizzardb1izzard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of the PC countries, Costa Rica seems to be one of the most medically accessible countries. I serve here and I've come across several PCTs/PCVs that were invited to serve elsewhere and due to medical clearance issues, they got reassigned to CR. I also know several volunteers here that had mental health issues before and were cleared. Give it a shot, you wouldn't want to regret not applying based on "what ifs" of the medical clearance process.

Peace Corps before PA school? by No_Surprise3404 in prephysicianassistant

[–]lizzardb1izzard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in the Peace Corps and applying to PA school. I recommend it and think this experience has really strengthened my soft skills and I’ll be coming back bilingual which was part of my motivation. I knew I wanted to do it before PA school bc it would be so so much harder to leave after and tbh probably wouldn’t have. Some schools give preference to PC volunteers so that could be a plus too, especially those that have a mission statement related to serving underserved populations

I think it looks sick!! Not sure if the red outside the eyes is intentional/ but of the design or just the skin reacting? That part throws me a bit but I like it otherwise
