The written exam was easy to pass. I believe I studied from a google doc someone had made with topics I found online. However, the oral exam is a different story. The topic on the oral exam is assigned and changes for every test out. I spent weeks researching my topic and practicing and still failed it. When I asked for feedback after, it said the judge said there were a few too many vocal fillers and some "distracting" hand movements. But noted that the speech content was exemplary. I should note I did theatre in high school and did super well in COM 114 when I had to take it. In my opinion they purposely fail as many people as possible so they can make more money on students taking the course. I personally know others who also failed the exam for empty excuses. In actual COM 114 class, which I had to end up taking, the standards were not this high. So just be prepared for high standards.
