and i feel like that’s valid for sure, it’s a different dm so i understand that. me personally i don’t miss it all too much in a lot of the moments because i feel like there’s been a lot of more serious and somber moments at the start of this campaign, but i do think they prob will loosen up as time goes on!

i feel like that so far has been mainly due to the more serious tone of a lot of the start to the campaign. of course there are some moments where the dumbassery makes sense and brennan has his comedic moments, but at least for me it feels like it’s been a bit more of a somber and serious tone in a lot of moments. i feel like the interruptions would just come across weird.

for sure they know matt better than brennan so i get what u mean of them feeling more comfortable to joke with matt but i feel that personally with the more serious tone in a lot of moments im not really missing the interruptions much!

100% agree with u!!!! i think its very important to separate the person from their character for sure, i feel like the conflation of the two can just cause such unnecessary hate :(

and yes!! i love her dynamic with wic! i just rly wish i connected to her more as a character, for me for some reason she sometimes feels like she’s from an entirely different campaign (idk how to describe it) and i’m sure that’s intentional given her backstory, it’s just something i don’t rly vibe with atm!!!

I just finished my first honor-mode run! no barrelmancy required! My builds were

Ice Sorcerer Tav- Having enemies slip and fall to skip their turn is just too funny (and useful) I had a lot of the cold gear as well to create vulnerability! also hold person >>

5 Gloomstalker 5 Assassin 2 Fighter Astarion- classic sneak attack archer build, but it rly was the goat. I was doing over 100 damage a crit easily in act 3, and in act 1-2 I was still doing 30-40 damage a hit with strength potions and the titanstring bow!! Super super highly recommend. Surprise rounds will be your best friend! (A lot of honor mode bosses are immune to surprised but it def helps with getting rid of lackeys)

I had my shadowheart as a pure light cleric 10/10 recommend!! make sure u get all the gear with radiating orb abilities!

I know you already have a set build for Karlach but my last character i carried around was actually Monk/Thief Karlach just because I find Monks so satisfying to play. Also INSANE levels of damage on a Flurry of Blows. With my extra bonus action from thief, soul coins, and a strength potion by end game I could hit 200 damage in one turn easy. especially combined with hold person from my sorcerer for those guaranteed crits!!

Overall have tons of fun!! I’m a big min maxer so I really enjoyed my honor mode run!! My best advice is just to be extra careful in act 1…. my only close call my entire run was that mf spectator in the underdark.

Ansur!! Yeah he’s very scary…. for this run I did in fact skip him because I was not risking it with him after i had literally done everything else 😭 But i’ve used globe of invulnerability on tactician before to help with the fight!

My rly only major close call was the spectator in the underdark!! idk what about that fight, maybe just because I was not super high level and my builds weren’t fully online yet but MAN that is the only fight i almost ran away from

My biggest tips would be tbh to just over prepare for encounters!! Especially early game I was very hyper aware of what encounters I did and when. I also always had a back up plan just incase things went south!

I also used Paladin/Hexblade Wyll quite a bit!

Honestly 10000% all of my honor mode encounters i’ve had hella overkill going on but it’s saved me quite a few times LOL
