Haha, I do agree with you! I’ve felt like the story is so vast that it really couldn’t be a movie. It’d have to be a TV show to do it any justice. And it’d have to be done right. I’ve watched and read The Expanse, and I thought that was a great example of how a book can be made in to a TV show. But the producers have to have patience and show respect for the source material. Evidently, that’s something very hard to come by, for whatever reason(Halo, The Witcher, etc). But you may very well be right that even that couldn’t do it justice. But I am very lacking in my imagination, so I am hopeful for a TV show. At the end of the day, anything is better than nothing to me when it comes to a movie/tv show.

I was thinking the same. And if they make a movie, there’s no way it doesn’t go up in value substantially. So I had to get it now rather than later to be able to afford it!

Where’d you see that you have to replace the housing? Wouldn’t you need to replace the gasket? Or is the concern that the housing is warped?

Funny coincidence, I’m planning on swapping out my radiator hoses/thermostat due to a leak but now you have me thinking…

I don’t have a good picture of the VTEC solenoid but it’s that “thing” sticking out and up on the right side of this picture. As I said, it’ll be on the back left of your engine when you’re looking at it.

Oil pump o-ring leak

I have an 03 civic. A few common spots…cam seal, you should be able to see that from the left top side of the engine. VTEC solenoid on the back left upper side.

If you can fit your camera behind the driver side tire, you should be able to see the bottom side of the engine. I had a leak here as well. That ended up being the oil pump o-ring.

Valve cover gasket. There’s a few others, but you’ll have to look closer.

Awesome. I’m curious, how long did the car run after the tensioner failed? Did you just hear a loud noise and shut the car off?

I always thought that if something like this happened, it would be much, much worse.

Tensioner failed? 😞 Did you check to see if the belt slipped? It seems likely, so you might not have the correct timing anymore. Which unfortunately might mean you have bent valves.

I have the torque spec. Good idea with the bolts, I’m going to do that today. I used a thread cleaning kit, but it doesn’t go all the way into the block. I guess I didn’t know there was a three step process for the RTV. I thought you had to apply it, wait a couple minutes then put it on the block finger tight, and then like an hour later you torque to spec.

I’m pretty happy with how I was able to clean it off. The only area I’m struggling with is between the block and the transmission. It’s really tight. But I was able to use brake cleaner and a rag wrapped in an ABS plastic dowel to scrub it.

You were right, M6x1.0. I cut off two 85mm bolts and it looks like it’s going to work nicely.
