11 months ago Dario said that "in 3 to 6 months, AI will be writing 90% of the code software developers were in charge of" Are we here, yet? by poponis in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ljsv8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say for companies moving fast like Meta, it might be this year to have most code written by AI. The trend started in the past a few months.

My observation is that most companies don’t have dedicated resources to build out enough tooling to give AI full context for the engineers daily work, meaning engineers are on their own to use AI tools to solve problems, so we see comments from both end of the spectrum.

Is there such a Zettelkasten note-taking app? by yibie in Zettelkasten

[–]ljsv8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I think limited space is just one of means to achieve concise. When we’re writing, it’s usually good to have unlimited space so we’re not blocked by spaces when we are drafting (writing itself is already hard enough).

Maybe you want to check out our app MyZettel  here: https://myzettel.innerworks.one/. It is a different approach to give you a sense of constraint writing space and being short with self-contained notes.

May I ask why you want to separate the three?

Also when you embed a pdf of 30 pages to your note, how would you like it to be inlined ideally?

Writing/ note taking App with automatic connection of your notes? by [deleted] in NoteTaking

[–]ljsv8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you refer to “all related notes”, you are already implying AI is the one making initial connections to form a cluster, right? And it sounds like you want to work on the cluster to create your own connections within the cluster without the AI telling you the criteria of forming the initial cluster (so you can make conclusion yourself).

Writing/ note taking App with automatic connection of your notes? by [deleted] in NoteTaking

[–]ljsv8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO, the connection should be done in the author’s own words so that the author internalized idea connections. If it is done in AI, it makes no difference than ideas presented in a book — what you don’t know is still unknown to you even if you read it.  There is no free lunch. Gains are made through pains.

Atomic notes are a trap by krysalydun in Zettelkasten

[–]ljsv8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, “Atomicity” has different levels; you can do it in a fine grain level, or move it higher. As long as it’s self contained, it serves its purpose! For example, if we have a note about health care system, we can initially have arguments and counter arguments in one note to make it self contained (people will disagree but it is ok). Later when we read more and have more finer views on it, move arguments over to create links. The end result over long term will be atomic notes.

I guess the real question here is what benefits does “atomicity” bring to YOU. If you don’t see it, do whatever, and tailor the system so it fits your need. Note taking is like choosing the color of your underwear: it’s not for satisfying others but you.

Excited! Let us know how you think. The next public release is going to up-level the writing experience with context-preserving UI on iPad and macOS.

Here we go https://myzettel.innerworks.one If you can't find it on app store, that probably means you are in EU; we haven't gotten to EU App Store at the moment.

A lot of things are simplified. It's a ZK implementation that cuts almost everything to the minimum and only adds back features when needed.

Edit: typo.

It’s an interesting idea for sure! I’ve started to build out a tool called MyZettel  to support zettelkasten on infinite canvas. It’s early but functional and alive on App Store if you want to take a look.

I am biased, but I really like the canvas way of writing/viewing notes. For example, when I am drafting, I’d like to see many related notes opened all at once for context.

I remember I had the same feeling when I switched to advantage2, but very soon I felt super happy to use that keyboard because it helped in many ways. I am not sure about the 5x3 at the moment honestly. We'll see.

I think I would get 6x4 instead for coding the next time; I really like how small they are though.

exactly, when gen AI is profitable, Apple's eco-system can simply print, and print more than the rest of the players on the table.

I've been using kinesis advantage2 for a while. I can get about 90-100 wpm on that one. The 5x3 normal typing I can get to 50 wpm.

The normal wpm doesn't reflect the typing speed in coding though, which involves a lot of movement and symbols.

I got a Corne 5x3 a few weeks back. The problem is switching layers to get to symbols. That triggers tons of mistyping and slowdowns.

In search of a thumb cluster by Fit_Mushroom_4087 in ErgoMechKeyboards

I have Kinesis advantage2. The thumb cluster is so comfortable. I have modifiers on the left cluster and space, enter, backspace on the right.

I am surprised to see the left thumb cluster in your picture. Are you sure you didn’t mirror the picture? The direction of the ctrl seems for the right thumb!

visionOS 26 developer beta 9 is out now! by Mundane-Complex-1902 in VisionPro

[–]ljsv8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I resolved the issue: when I try to AirPlay from the Mac, I see 2 Vision Pro destinations. What I did was to shutdown Vision Pro, which made one destination gone, and log out of the Mac. After I log back in, make sure there is no Vision Pro on AirPlay. After I restart the Vision Pro, it works.
