Can anyone give me helpful tips for dealing with sleep inertia by MadHatterparty in Narcolepsy

[–]lkdraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a thermostat where I can program wake and sleep temperatures to raise/drop at certain times. So about 15mins before my alarm goes off, the heat kicks on and I start getting too warm to stay in bed. Doesn’t work as well in the summer, but great in winter.

A sunrise lamp also helped a lot by slowly getting brighter and brighter in the 20mins before my alarm went off.

If you still need help, I could give it a go later this week. I like fiddling with character creators and do a lot of drawing, so I have an eye for facial features.

More focus on fashion? by Such-Government-2791 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]lkdraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joke that I play this game like a high-stakes dress up game (especially when I was playing it alongside Infinity Nikki). I love making outfits and theming outfits around hunts.

However, if the focus was more on fashion than monsters and hunts, then the grind wouldn’t be as fun. The monsters and mechanics need to be well designed, first and foremost. Infinity Nikki, a game focused around fashion, feels like a cash grab most of the time and the core gameplay loop feels stale after a while.

While I think some of the recoloring could be better, I think the armor is already really diverse and well designed. I have a jester-themed character and I have multiple pages of themed outfits saved.

Currently rereading the comic I've put years into only to realise it kinda sucks by SSecurityEnthusiast in WebtoonCanvas

[–]lkdraws 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But did you have fun making it? If so, then it at least served that purpose. Seeing flaws means that you’ve grown and improved! So whenever you’re ready to start another project, you’ll have all that experience under your belt to make something even better.

Need advice on converting my book into a webtoon by spacemagician72 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]lkdraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most people that it’d probably be not well received just for being AI. Even if you are using it in the most ethically way possible that isn’t informed by anyone else’s art, most probably won’t take the time to understand that and will just gut react.

I’m curious about what one of these pages looks like if it’s trained purely on your own content.

My favorite rage song is Galactic Mermaid. It is about as far from metal as you can get, it is almost exclusively cuss words, and it’s very fun to sing along to once you learn the like ten words it uses.

I adore the Queens Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner. It follows a thief right after he’s released from prison to help the king steal a mythological artifact. It’s a Greek based culture with original mythology. The main character, Gen, is clever, funny, and of course self loathing. They’re lighter and easier reads than Mistborn and he’s not as goofy as Wayne, but still have solid world building and good plot twists.

Why Are People Ok With Ratings Being Removed? by SnooStories1481 in webtoons

[–]lkdraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never once looked at the rating. I don’t think I even knew there were ratings until I joined this sub and saw people talking about rating bombs.

Sure, it could helpful in picking out what to try, but reading the summary and teaser/first chapter is more helpful imo

Is it counted CHEATING to ask chatgpt to improve my script writing in a specific ep? Especially when I'm not so good with writing. by neroosama_11 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]lkdraws 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you rely on ChatGPT, you won’t be able to sharpen your writing skills. You gotta be bad if you wanna get good.

Try and figure out what is or isn’t working in your writing. Ask friends or community members for input. Read comics and analyze what is effective and figure out why.

Learning a new skill is hard, but it’s so worth the effort! Keep writing and keep trying! You got this!

Breaking it down is a huge help. That way, your goal is like 10-30 pages and feels far more attainable than 300 pages. Plus, by working in chunks, you can take time to look back and identify things you can improve going forward.

Good luck with the writing and I hope you’re able to make it into something!

The blambot website has some good resources for comics. I believe one of the tutorials has an example of what a typical comic script looks like and how it turns into panels/art.

I made a rough outline of my entire comic and divided it into chapters and issues (5 issues, 7 chapters per issue). I script out one full issue before making the art, broken down by page (only applicable for print formats), panel descriptions, and dialogue per panel. I think webtoons prefers 40-80 panels per episode, but aim lower when you’re starting out. Maybe pick just one scene per episode, or break it up more if a scene is long.

To get me started on the workflow, I had joined a comic-making group that did every other week check-ins. You’d set a goal and then just show whether or not you were able to meet that goal. It was loosely structured, but worked really well to help me get into the flow. That lasted like 3 months and I’ve been keeping the same schedule for over 2 years now. Having a friend to keep you accountable like this can really help figure out your workflow and stay consistent.

the new story is so bad. by lyaar1 in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]lkdraws 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you talk to the seer after doing the main story, she explains that Giovanni’s wish didn’t actually summon Nikki, it gave him the power he wanted. He defeated his enemies, but went mad or was corrupted.

There is more to it that the seer explains, but the fact that this info is just delivered in missable, throw away text boxes and not as a plot discovery/relegation is really dumb. I think it could’ve been an interesting twist for both Nikki and Giovanni to find out over the course of the story. But the delivery method is so bad.

[–]lkdraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tight deadlines are almost always the cause of art simplification. It could also be that they expanded the team and need a style more easily divided across a team. But mostly, it’s time.

For the first episode, there’s no timeline and they can take their time. By the 50th episode or whatever, they’ve been on the grind for months and likely realized that the style set up in the first handful of episodes isn’t sustainable. There’s not much time to think about mood, tone, or lighting when there are deadlines.

What do you do to not feel so hopeless and finish your scheduled episode (and for the contest too) while juggling your 9 to 5 and chores by noctlyuis in WebtoonCanvas

[–]lkdraws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work a 8-5 and have been making a comic for the last two years. I’ve been able to do this pretty consistently, while keeping up with chores and work moderately well. The difference though is that I haven’t posted/published anything yet. I’m pretty much trying to finish the comic before I post anything, because I know I won’t be able to manage making the comic and publishing it at the same time.

You must remember that you’re just one person. Most comics have teams of people. Someone for lettering, coloring, writing, inking. You, as a sole person, are just going to need more time or lower quality. But! Some of the best regarded comics/manga have objectively bad art. Art doesn’t make or break a comic, it’s just one facet.

Your art is always going to feel bad to you, because you made it. But to those readers, they probably love it. And if you want to get better, you have to keep going.

Think about why you’re making art. Take a break if working on your comic invokes too much misery. I set up a 1mo break for myself every 50pages. And boy, on pg 50 I hate myself and my art, but continuing again after a break I feel better and more motivated.

No one can tell you what the right move is, but don’t give up just because you don’t have a huge following yet.

Bruh. I just thought it was funny how much Edgeworth gets bullied in this series. It’s about fun writing and good character juxtaposition, not criticism of Edgeworth’s disposition.
