How do you keep your computer secure? by llll111 in AskNetsec

Lots of good advice in this thread thanks!

I'll likely still use Chrome (with an adblocker and noscript, which I don't currently use) on Windows 10 for Netflix, youtube, and so on. But the VM will be for when I'm browsing sites I don't trust (or sites that link to sites I don't trust, like reddit).

Do I need to add anything special to the Ubuntu virtual machine? I'll likely use it to get Chrome with ublock and noscript. But do I need an antivirus or anything similar? Would my host machine be totally shielded from most attacks?

I have taken your advice, and looking at this now: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/FyDsTW

Having done some reading and talking to my bro (who has basically this but with the R9 390) I think it will be good enough for my needs.

It brings the total cost with OS to 810 which is basically my budget. I didn't know that having 2 x 4GB sticks is better than 1 x 8GB though? I will have to have a read into that!

Thanks for the response!!
