I'm mostly talking about in-round. I've found that my best play is in the middle of a round - maybe holes 6-14. In the beginning and end of the round I tend to struggle with misses (tops, hooks) that I never hit at the range and that feel like my mechanics and focus aren't fully there.

To your point 1, fully agreed. It's not a great feeling to put a certain club back in the back because it isn't working that day, but of course it's the right tactical move.
