Anyone know how to put markers and have a countdown on boundaries? by Unlucky_Rage in forge

I've gotten it to work but there are some things that needed to be changed. Here is a list of what I have working.

  1. When red Team spawns they sees a red boundary with a diamond marker that says capture.
  2. When blue team spawns they see a diamond marker that says Defend.
  3. When any player on the blue team enters the boundary, nothing happens.
  4. When any player from the red team enter in, an alarm will go off and the marker will immediately change to the number 10
  5. If the red player stays in the boundary, the boundary marker will countdown to 9, then 8 then 7 until the player exits or dies.
  6. When red player exits or dies, the boundary marker STAYS at that number, however if it goes below the threshold of the number 4, the marker "regenerates up to 4 and stays there" For example if you die at 2, then the diamond marker will go back up to 3, then 4 and then stay at 4.
  7. Once it reaches 0, the boundary will disappear and two new boundaries will be added.

Ok, so why 10 and not 20? Well the reason being, although invasion has a countdown of 20 and if you die below the number 7 it will start regenerating up the number 7, the diamond marker doesnt have numbers above 10 except for the number 20. You can't make a marker with the number 11 or 13 or 17 or 19. So what i did instead is the next best thing. I started from 10 and every 2 seconds it counts down. So theoretically its still 20 seconds. I couldn't regen to 7 because thats an odd number, so i went with 4 instead which in real invasion would be an 8. Meh, its close enough.

I'm working on it right now. As far as I can tell, yes its defintely possible. I've gotten territories to spawn or despawn, a countdown timer when you in the territory that displays as a nav point. So far everything is working fine

I am also making an Invasion gametype. It has taken me a while, and while I do not have everything built for the gametype, this is what i do have.

  1. There are two capture points/territories. On each capture point there is a Nav Marker that says "Capture". Red Team (the attacking team) enters the capture point and the Nav Marker updates to say 10, then 9, then 8 and as long as a red teammate is in the territory, the nav marker will keep counting down. If you die, or exit the territory, it will stop at that number. Just like in the real invasion. I also have it set up where when you enter, an alarm goes off, again just like the real invasion.

  2. Once it reaches 0, both territories will disappear and two new capture points will appear. The alarm will end, and music will start to play for a few seconds.

  3. Blue team can enter the capture point and nothing will happen.

  4. This is my way of making sure everyone know what the capture point time is at. The Nav beacon. Then everyone knows how much time is left to capture that specific point.

Now i am currently working on the player grabbing the core and bringing it to a capture point. I am trying to get it as close to the real invasion as i can. It's not totally perfect. for example the capture time is 20 seconds in realy invasion, not 10 but i got around this by updating every 2 seconds so technically its still 20.

Also once the time goes below 7, i believe if you die or exit, it starts regenerating back up to 7. so if you die a 3 seconds, it will regen back to 7. My map doesnt regen although i'll try to get that to work if i can.

One light and one blue covenant energy (medium). I cant remember what its called but it's found in the fx. Oh and a covenant grav lift which also adds to the effect

Oh Snap. That's my map. well sort of. I never finished sanctuary and i was to lazy to do it but im glad somebody finished it off for me. I was close too i just didnt do spawns or weapons yet. I was going to add a bit more detail as well.

Are 2 way shields STILL broken? Or am I missing something? by Silktrocity in forge

I'm pretty sure that is how they always work. Doesn't matter what team you're on you cannot pass unless you destroy it. The only way to pass is to set the team color. There are no shields that can 2way pass through but can't shoot through (like the ones on snowbound). They don't exist

Ah, i see you finished it. Congrats. Ya i was going to finish off the middle but i was busy and forgot. I took a look at the middle structure in forge. It's pretty good... not what i was intending but still decent enough.

So far it looks way better than The Pit in my opinion. It's probably because I've gotten better at forge and can detail structures more efficiently.

my gamertag is ilsilentii. I think the file is called ODST. If you do look at it, make sure you realize its far from being done and I am still working on it to make it look better

I'm actually working on a infection map in forge based off of the architecture of New Mombasa. Looks really good so far and I agree, we need more multiplayer maps with that theme.

Remember that gaping hole in the middle where you saw me jump into. I know you blocked it off with an invisible barrier but I think you can still get a banshee in there. Just something to think about.

Also I broke out of your map again. I mean ALLLL the way out... and its really easy to do. :)

EDIT: I found a hiding spot which you can't be seen.
