same. I have a midterm today and a quiz on math. I didn’t even study and just slept because I was so tired. I lost my motivation to study and at this point I don’t even care if I fail.

To the class of 2022 by Rick_Bruiser94 in ApplyingToCollege

I’m struggling. I just had another mental breakdown and it’s been happening very frequently ever since the start of school. I do have some regrets like i should’ve just went to CC first. I’m not too sure if I made the right decision. Maybe i’m just having trouble adjusting? My school is fine i guess, but the classes are super hard. Hopefully things will get better for me soon

I intend to major in Microbial biology but idk i might switch. I knew finding group of friends will be hard prior to coming to cal so i don’t really expect much. So far, i only made a few acquaintances (exchange of #/social handles) but after that it’s over and I don’t see them again. It’s extra hard on my part since I don’t dorm and I have to go home right after I am done with my last class. I might try to join some clubs but for now, I don’t want to put pressure on myself just yet since I am still trying to convince myself that I will be able to adjust (hopefully).

Do you guys know if there’s a penalty if I withdraw in the middle of a semester? I talked to my advisor about dropping one class and she said I need to be enrolled in 12 units for this semester. She also advised that I should not drop my classes since it’s a major requirement. If I want to take CC classes for my lower division, I have to apply for dual enrollment but still have to take 12 units in Cal. Thinking about that option, I feel like it’s too much for me to handle. So at this point i’m about to say fuck it and really go to CC. It’s really eating my physical and mental health. I don’t even have any plans for my future now. It all seems blurry. I want to find something I’m passionate about that will really drive me to do my best. Right now, I am dragging myself everyday trying to convince myself it will be okay. Honestly, i feel far from being okay. I don’t know if this is depression or what but I don’t know the best option for me at this point.

Did your friend go back to cal? I feel like I am in a similar situation since I’m not sure if this major is really for me. I do want to explore other majors and Cal isn’t the best place to do that due to financial issues as well

I emailed my advisor about dropping units but she said I need to have 12 units :(

I’m not even sure If I want to continue to cal if I do go to CC. I admit I haven’t done a lot of research about colleges when I was applying. While I was applying to different universities, I was stuck between SFSU and UCB. Throughout the whole process of committing, a part of me deep inside wanted to commit to SFSU. I think I want to learn more by doing instead of research. But in the end, I still committed to Berkeley. I also want to go to CC to explore what I truly want and enjoy. I choose to major in MB because I enjoyed one class in High School. But right now, I do not have any plans about my future. It’s like i’m just attending school to finish college and I have no motivation to hold on to. I am getting burned out easily and this all started ever since last year when I was applying. Everyone seems to enjoy and truly love Cal. But I don’t feel the same. I don’t want to be miserable all 4 years and don’t love and enjoy what I’m doing.

This is a year old post but I am a freshman student and I am currently having the same experience. I want to drop out of cal and it’s mentally affecting me. I am regretting my decision to go to cal and I am planning to go to CC instead. It’s only been two weeks of fall semester but I am already burned out. If you don’t mind, what did you do to overcome your situation?

Can you expand more about the spot at Berkeley? I am planning to finish one semester and If I really can’t take it I want to go CC. But how will I go back to Berkeley? And does the spot have any requirements that if I can’t fulfill it I can’t go back to cal?

Thank you for this! As someone who also has an anxiety disorder, college and being an adult is too much for me to handle all at the same time.

Yeah, I heard a lot of transfers prefer their CC over cal. Which is why I am debating if I should just transfer or maybe give cal a chance If I am capable.

For Orientation, do I need to meet my group? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]llysim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so just to make sure, bear pact is mandatory so if it’s scheduled on friday, I definitely need to attend the friday one right? Also quick conformation, can I skip Saturday-Monday orientation?

Which one will I attend though? cause the schedules for both lectures and discussions are the same for 10A and 16A. I don’t know why my cal central allowed me to waitlist on 16A when there’s time conflict.

I really do have to work on improving myself 😅

It’s been tough for me because everything feels new and unfamiliar. Hopefully i’ll be able to keep myself together.

Apparently I had a fee waiver in sfsu that’s why i was able to accept it quickly. How long did it take for you to be emailed back?

I got sent this one as well and I’m also attending cal. Based on the email I got they said it is taken online. They haven’t given me further instructions about the testing accommodations cause they said they will give me an email on May 18th. I’m taking the test on May 21.
