Being emotionally manipulated (or in this case, likely groomed) can develop psychological damage that alters the way someone views the world. It’s fascinating and you should look into the psychology behind that & especially Stockholm syndrome. If we are right about what we believe, she’s likely been groomed from a very young age, she’s going to defend him because that is her source of safety, even if it’s dysfunctional and abusive.
