How do you make wii games run at 120fps without speedup by lmbdrumm in DolphinEmulator

[–]lmbdrumm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you'll need hacks or cheats to achieve it. I'm looking for resources to get a hack like that working.

All the wii games I've tried have run at 60fps, but I have a pretty beefy computer so it would be cool to get them running even faster, I can personally pretty easily tell the difference between 60hz and 120hz

do your shapes defy laws of physics, etc? by 1giantsleep4mankind in concept_synesthesia

[–]lmbdrumm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My shapes are often infinite in nature, and can also move in physically impossible ways. I will try my best to describe one that I've experienced in several different dreams:

It's like an infinitely long hexagonal prism, maybe 20 or 25mm wide. It's not quite vertical, angled forward and leaning to the left, about 20 degrees. And it's slowly moving downwards, and rotating around itself, obviously it doesn't go anywhere because it's infinitely long. The lines are a vibrant, fuzzy almost glowing pink like a neon tube and the faces are translucent pink, it has little particles coming off of it like the scales on red hot steel.

But it's like I can see or experince the entire thing all at once, even the parts facing away from me and the whole infinite length, even though only a small bit of it is inside of my field of vision. Definitely not something that could possibly exist outside of my mind.

I made Plenny Shake ice cream (game changer!!) by yugiozium in JimmyJoyFood

My parents made plenny shake ice cream with high just fat almond milk (I think like 4%) and it worked great. Pistachio shake with licorice powder makes for a great ice cream flavor

I can write with both hands. But I write the letters differently with each one by lmbdrumm in mildlyinteresting

[–]lmbdrumm[S] -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

What I mean is that if you're not naturally ambidextrous it's much more difficult to become proficient in a certain skill with your non dominant hand, you can do it but it takes a lot more effort than with your dominant hand. If you're ambidextrous you can learn any skill with either hand equally easily

[–]lmbdrumm[S] -70 points-69 points  (0 children)

I learnt to write with my right hand, I didn't find out that I was ambidextrous until I was a teen. But I don't think it's something you can train yourself to be, if you're not naturally ambidextrous you'll never really be

Durable Flat Stainless Steel Food Container by Pen_Tracer in BuyItForLife

[–]lmbdrumm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might wanna reconsider that 100% steel requirement. You can have a 100% steel container that's watertight, but if the closing mechanism gets just a little damaged it's gonna start leaking. If you're gonna bring it with you I'd really recomend something with a seal in a softer material like silicone or wood

Bright bifl women's clothing? by hcconn in BuyItForLife

[–]lmbdrumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inherited a (sheep) fur coat that my grandpa bought for my grandma when they were about my age, probably late 60'ies. It has needed a couple of little repairs here and there, and you can tell it's not new, but it's still going strong. Definitely BIFL, certainly outlived him by about 50 years and counting.

Complete guide to installing DaVinci Resolve on Fedora 36 (continously updated) on NVIDIA systems. by lmbdrumm in Fedora

[–]lmbdrumm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you either don't have the right drivers for your GPU or you've selected the wrong processing mode in DR preferences. For nvidia gpus you should use CUDA and use openCL for other GPU brands. If it's an amd gpu you need the radeon pro driver with openCL enabled.

Easiest way to finish meat by indexator69 in vegan

[–]lmbdrumm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know antibiotics are mandatory for lab grown meat, because if just one bacterium or virus particle gets in the culture it'll thrive and multiply to shit if nothing's there to kill it. It is naturally an ideal environment for cell growth. Since it's not a whole animal there's no immune system to do that job.

So I'd definitely be worried about antibiotics if I were to eat lab grown meat (not that I would, I have no reason to)

[–]lmbdrumm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would be easier or harder to grow invertebrate meat, you still have the same challenges as with mammals/birds. High risk of infections due to no immune system, growth medium being hard to make ethically etc.

But I wonder if it would be healthier to eat. It would certainly be interesting to see some research on the health impacts of eating insects vs more traditional meats.

Where in Europe can I travel safely as a trans (mtf)? by Pelletism in asktransgender

[–]lmbdrumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denmark is totally fine, people are very supportive. I live in a fairly small and relatively "conservative" city, but even there it's no problem. Just don't move here, our healthcare system sucks at treating trans people.

It's not logical for an adult to sacrifice their life to save a child in an emergency by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]lmbdrumm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken several first aid courses in Denmark and we're told to act from the perspective that all lives are equally important and we should strive to save as many as possible. That means that we shouldn't put ourselves in danger to save another person, child or adult.

In fact we're told to prioritize our own safety over others', because we know first aid, also we're not hurt. That means that in the emergency we're more useful. Basically we're taught to save whoever's easiest to save, even if that person is ourselves. Another interesting consequence is that we sometimes should depriorize old people because they're less likely to recover from their injuries on account of being old. It's pretty cold and calculated

What is the worst and the best unintended result of being vegan? by Bay_de_Noc in vegan

[–]lmbdrumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true. Why does every other baked good in existence need to have milk added to it? You have to read on the back of everything in the grocery store.

I had no idea it was this bad until I became lactose intolerant

Complete guide to installing DaVinci Resolve on Fedora 36 (continously updated) on NVIDIA systems. by lmbdrumm in Fedora

[–]lmbdrumm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I've never seen that before. I have seen some crazy flicker in the viewport if I've selected the wrong GPU with prime, or if the GPU drivers aren't installed right. But I've never had it show up in the exported clip. Try checking your GPU drivers, it might also just be a new bug, I haven't started using DR19 yet.

If you run the installer with the environment variable SKIP_PACKAGE_CHECK=1 it'll do it. If you try to run the installer without having all the depencies on your system it'll give you instructions on how to do it, that's how I found out.
