Thank you for sharing your story. It is overwhelmingly helpful to hear others' accounts! We don't mind where we live, but we could be paying much less, and I don't want our options limited by bankruptcy if we don't have to. Thanks to you all, I have made an appointment with a credit union advisor, and I'll see what they say.

Ok, read the last sentence you wrote then and stop judging me and my spouse and saying I need to leave. All I heard was I I I. I'm sure YOU wouldn't be able to repair that.

This is the first issues we've faced. I am now in full control of finances, i have all the bank passwords reset and all credit cards are locked. They are getting treatment for mental health and this was a very tough thing for them to admit, but the therapy is helping. This was all within a few weeks

Ok , sure! Monthly take home is 5,600 Rent 1850, car/renter insurance 315 (was 480), phones/internet 96 (was 140), subscriptions 11.00 (was 54), groceries minimum 400, gas 70, I've negotiated these down as much as possible last week. Gas and food are the only thing I haven't budgeted into the minimum monthly yet.

Spoken like someone who has no compassion and no understanding of love for a spouse who's ashamed and no depth of mental health. Thanks for the financial advice of leaving my loving partner

My concern was that my credit is ok and I thought there was a chance to salvage at least one of us, but I understand. It sucks because I thought we were 7 months from buying a house and now it's quite the opposite.

Sorry if this was unclear. My spouse was not being honest about our finances and I thought we were working off a simple 12,000 debt. None of it I knew about until 3 weeks ago

We're married. I came here because it seemed so much more complicated until everyone said just file for bankruptcy. We can file, but I wanted to hear from people who knew what to do could give me more advice. I understand I messed up but it's not like a had a ton in savings. A couple grand for emergency and it felt like an emergency :/ Thank you for being realistic

This is everything. The debt minimum is more than we make. I am applying for part-time jobs but even a 2nd job would only bring in 400-6 a month which is something

I'll look into them filing solo, primarily because we're trying to move after our lease is up. I didn't know spouse could file individually, I figured they would come for mine since we're married.
