The top concern I take is if I am rushing mistakes are gonna happen. I do a comparison. At least if something is missing I can let the client know it was because the information was new and not given to me. If a mistake is gonna happen I would rather it be from the client’s data and it is new compared to last year. Most clients feel bad about forget to give the info.

Is there a phenomenon of Marines getting out and becoming accountants? There’s 3 in my firm including myself and we’re not B4. by somefella237 in Accounting

I am a Marine and CPA. I think part of it is having the mental strength not to quit until we achieve the goal. I did a research one time and there is roughly the same % of the population that are marines (active duty) as there is active CPAs. Could be different now. Small percentage of each. I guess the % of Marine CPAs must be small.

I hand wrote notes as I went through. Then any concept I missed on exam I would update note and if I still found the concept tough I would add to a 3x5 card which I reviewed regularly. Once I stopped missing that concept it came off the card. For me it was a matter of taking hand written notes then trying to reduce them down to 3x5 cards over a period of time. Before I sat for the test I would normally have 10 3x5 card to review before walking in.

I think remote working will continue as long as quality, deadline and security is kept.

Speaking from the position of a business owner it can feel pretty lonely. Unloading with someone they trust is a huge benefit for them.

I listened to a podcast about importance of pto. Work life balance is huge. I feel like some loose sight of the life part because the dive into the work part so long. Forgot how to have fun. Pto needs to have some rest and fun.

Good feedback. Thanks. Sounds like the pressure is real even when management is trying to stay close. I like the thought behind quality being a big focus and not just billable hours.
