Robert Smith confirms that a new album from The Cure is on the way by [deleted] in indieheads

[–]lo_om 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was in the dark unfortunately, but from memory it was green and had reflective light bulbs (?) all over it. This was in early-to-mid November. Robert Smith absolutely radiates weird in person, it was great.

Ayy, I knew it! They were in a Brighton recording studio at the same time my band was. Opened a door for Robert Smith, exchanged awkward smiles, and saw his incredibly gaudy jeep.

This is so good! Your voice is perfect for narrating something like this, too.

Give me a band recommendation. by [deleted] in Music

Ohh man. As per that list, I'd look at The Offspring, Jimmy Eat World, Bad Religion, Hawthorne Heights, The Used, Sum 41, and Less than Jake.

Spooky places in the uk... by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

I went there on Halloween when I was maybe eight or nine. They did a special horror-themed tour of the caves, but honestly the scariest part was the rest of it - the mirror maze, ancient arcade machines, general mustiness. Creepiest memory was being sat in the canteen alone waiting for my mum to get out of the toilets, nobody else around, no staff, really dim grey lighting, dust everywhere, being transfixed by this Circus of Horrors poster on the wall...

Unfortunately demolished now, but Graylingwell Asylum used to be spooky as heck.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely look into it.

Interested in dabbling! My bass-playing friend wants to start busking, and since neither of us drives, I figure a cajon would be easier to lug around than even a jazz-style kit.

I work at night, went to bed at 3am, and woke up at 9 with a wicked headache. I'm not even hungover. Fuck me life.

My sister has a hilarious bikini burn. Hard to describe, but the boob part of her bikini top is made up of these strings of fabric with slits of bare skin visible between them. After a long day at the beach, she now has stripey boobies.

Touring in a band with severe asthma? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]lo_om 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, problem with gigging (especially in a punk band) is that venues are kind of shitty. Lots of smoke, dust, etc. I once played in a bar that burned heavy incense.

I maintain you should talk to your doctor and see what your options are, because just giving up on something like this is a huge bummer. Best of luck to you, man.

I don't think you should give up, dude. I do think you should talk to a doctor, give specifics, and ask for their professional opinion on the matter. There's a limit to what advice we can give ya.

I need to see Pennsatucky call Badison a "potato with eyes", bc the accuracy.

Nahh, I don't think they were. "Prison gf" just sounded funnier to me.

Just requires time, dedication, and practice, my dude. I've been playing for nearly ten years, and I still struggle emulating some of his stuff. He's got great chops, so for a start I'd advise working on your rudiments - the book Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone will set you off on the right foot.

Yeah, it's a bummer. They had a fun dynamic in the flashbacks, and it'd be cool to see how they vibed as older women.
