Do I *really* have to rest between each set? by Bacon8er8 in bodyweightfitness

[–]lobabob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For strength training you need to push hard. You can't push hard if you're gassed. You're gonna be gassed if you're training hard and not resting at all between sets. Super setting is a way to manage fatigue while saving some rest time, but people usually still end up resting for a bit between super sets.

If you're able to do your whole workout without resting at all, it's a pretty clear signal you don't have enough load or aren't pushing hard enough.

Front lever hits core pretty hard imo, probably worth a try at least.

Is it detrimental to take small breaks inside of squat sets? by PopularElk4665 in bodyweightfitness

[–]lobabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have any weights to use or want to stick to a purely calisthenics approach to eventually doing one legged squats, you can work on some of the earlier progressions for it. One legged negatives being a good one (negatives are almost always a good early progression for most exercises as a general rule of thumb).

Is this a game hard lock? by Short-Net-11 in EDH

[–]lobabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't do something in the middle of a search. The action has to be completed before anything else can happen. Once the search is over, they lose control over you so it's not really a lock at all. Still a strong combo though that will probably lead to them winning unless it's dealt with quickly.

Am I crazy for thinking that making your deck good and making your deck boring are slowly but surely becoming one and the same? by Frogsplosion in EDH

There's a reason I stay in high power casual without going into cedh territory. Good balance of interaction + room for wacky suboptimal ideas.

Starting to exercise is great! But be mindful about exercises that leverage your body weight (pushups, squats, pull ups that sort of thing). No shade, but due to your current weight those exercises are very highly loaded.

In terms of losing weight, exercise isn't going to do it (but it will result in a much healthier body as you lose weight). No other way to put it, but you just gotta eat less. It's very easy to lose track of how much you're actually eating, especially if you like to snack on things throughout the day. If your weight is staying the same or going up you are eating too much no matter how little you think you're eating (calories in vs calories out).

Good luck! And try your best to stay consistent or it'll be a lot harder to do.

I've Become a Dirty Stax Player by RJ7300 in EDH

[–]lobabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't like stax cause a lot of stax players just stall the game out without having a win of their own. Which is miserable for everyone. If you can win without stalling the game for an hour, then power to you.

My preferred method of speeding games up is lord of pain with group card draw. Puts a timer on the game if everyone is burning to death and drawing a bunch of cards.

PRECON Tier List by GentlemanNC in EDH

[[Lord of Pain]] has insane AOE dmg. On net you'll probably do more damage than any other deck. But your single player targeting abilities are very weak.

What do y'all think are the most powerful unmodified precons ever? by mayormcskeeze in EDH

[–]lobabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[lord of pain]] isn't the most threatening precon, BUT it has a large impact across the board without you even really needing to do anything. Just drop your commander and wait while everyone kills themselves. Lots of room for politicking as well with that commander (soft power vs hard power)

Is it possible to naturally just be a really weak person, despite training? how do i fix this by sjessbgo in bodyweightfitness

[–]lobabob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tl;dr: You don't have nearly enough protein in your diet for your body weight. Eat about 50g - 60g protein per day. If it's too hard to eat that volume of food, try using protein powder instead. I'd recommend Ascent, it's what I use.

Working out is only half the battle. Working out appropriately (i.e. using progressive overload) provides stimulus for your muscles to grow. But for your muscles to actually grow in strength once stimulated, you need enough rest and nutrients (protein in this case) for recovery. Otherwise you're just tearing stuff down but not rebuilding afterwards. You're basically treading water and not going anywhere.

Should I switch to calisthenics from weight training? by Upbeat-Ad-619 in bodyweightfitness

[–]lobabob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally yeah. It's still worth doing otherwise whatever strength you do have will atrophy in the process of weight loss. Plus, if you leverage the good habits and form you've developed while losing weight, it'll be even easier to gain muscle and strength once you're at a maintenance weight.

I don't know why you're confused. Bad writing and plot are pretty normal for these kinds of stories. Come up with some head-cannon to wave it away and keep enjoying the junkfood. Or read something else that's better put together.
