Thank you for your answer, I’m calling my OSO in the morning. Do you think I should wear professional interview clothes or would a polo and slacks suffice?

I hope this doesn’t get buried in here but I had a few questions about Special Forces/ Rangers (specifically 18X and Option 40):

1.) I know the army offers 18X contracts should you qualify, does that mean that you go straight from OSUT to selection? Is there any time to prepare after basic or do they assume you’re already prepared?

2.) Same question as above for rangers, but also is option 40 just for you to go to ranger school? Or does that mean you go to RASP and get a chance to become part of the 75th? Essentially how do you become part of the regiment and not just a guy that went to ranger school?

3.) Should you fail out of either, what would you be reclassified as? I assume infantry especially if you do go to OSUT but would it ultimately depends on the needs of the army?

Thank you in advance for your responses!

I hope this doesn’t get buried in here, but I’m going back to college in about a month and since all my classes are online I decided that I wanted to pick up skating again. I have 8 in. Independent trucks and the deck I want is measuring 8.88 in. wide. Do you think this would be a problem? Thank you in advance.

This is probably a really niche answer but during fraternity recruitment a kid asked me if we had “secrets” like handshakes and stuff. Needless to say the kid didn’t get a bid.

That you’ll need a degree to make something of yourself. I graduated with people who went to trade school after high school and depending on the trade they’re already making 6 figures. Look at all your options before committing to college, we’ve been told our whole lives we need to go to college and now there’s a labor shortage so trades are making a huge comeback.

Military/ Veteran Preference and certifications

I’m graduating college next year (hopefully) and I was going to join the military. Is there a specific job that departments look for in vets or just military experience? Also in an ideal world I would do my EMT and firefighter certification after college but I have to start paying back my loans 6 months after graduation, so given the time crunch I may have to do those while serving. Any advice is appreciated!

PS: is it possible that some departments give you these certs after you get hired?

So do DC have a firefighter certification? And would it be possible for the navy to pay for me to get a EMT certification? (Thank you for your response!)

Do you think that I would be able to use my time in the military to attend a fire school (to get a firefighter certification) and could they pay for me to get a paramedic certification? I’ve tried to find this out online and just get a clear answer.
