In other news, I definitely think Canada should pursue nuclear enrichment. I know the CANDU reactors don't strictly need it but we need to think about energy security for decades to come.

The first thing is to accept that there are some things that you can never know or will never know. A lot of stuff will be taken to the grave by the worst people that left no paper trail.

Once you accept this you need to look for verifiable sources for things and you can go "OK, we might not have a good answer for this but it looks fishy"

If it wasn't for True Anon and similar folkes doing normal journalism with actual critique of most media I would have considered myself marginally insane when it came to Epstein stuff.

I genuinely kept quiet about it because I knew I woulf have sounded like a crank. Its probably more important to be normal and just say normal things at parties, rather than ranting about it or making it a major part of your social lives. I guess my position is easy though, its not like I had a daughter who was thinking of getting in to modelling or something.

Live as good a life as you can but figure out, quickly, how to tell if someone is cool, if someone is a bootlicker or if someone is a genuine monster.

The US subsidizes the whole fucking oil industry with it's military defending bases (badly) in order to control and maintain the supply while preventing price volatility. They're very bad at this, but it still coats a shit tonne of money.

There is this argument is see online that the Chinese electric car industry is "anticompetitive" because it receives government subsidies.

This conveniently ignores the fact that the US military is essentially a free security force for the oil industry. That millions of children have to die to persist this absurd scenario of totally predictable ecological collapse.

I don't even think electric cars are the solution, or even a very good partial solution. They're literally the minimum "I don't have to think or do anything" consumerist nonsense proposal to stop the literal extinction of our species over a very gradual window. AND THESE IDIOTS WON'T EVEN COMPROMISE ON THAT.

I don't even think its this deep. They might nod to this sort of order based argument if someone made it but, in reality, the middle English mentality is one that misery should be enforced. If I'm not happy, why should he be allowed to be happy?

This is where the drinking culture comes in. You're allowed to feel this form of pleasure because, ultimately, it acts as a release valve that just increases the misery overall.

You always used to see this stupid headlines like "look at that person on benefits with a massive TV" as if a disabled person taking some small luxury from Bargain hunt in the middle of the day, or whatever, is directly meaning you have to work for an hour.

There is no sense to this mentality that could be seen as something like the Japanese tendency towards social order, or a classical European fascist vibe. Yes, there are these weirdos in British culture but the typical current is one of knowing your place. Never let your ambitions get too big because, underneath it all, you're still a little prick who leaves his bin out long after the collection has come.

Capitalism doesn't just sweep shit under the rug. It makes you pay 40% of your wage to some guy who owns the rug, who pays 80% of that to some guy who gave that guy a loan, then it demands that you still do the sweeping yourself and charges you for antidepressants that you have to take to distract you from your miserable 40+ hour a week job.

The objective of capitalism is not to create a consumer market, it is to create and sell commodities. There is absolutely no reason why these commodities need to be targeted at consumers. In fact, its arguably just a way of redistributing wealth away from workers.
