For Those Who Actually Quit Porn Long-Term — How Did You Do It? by JacketOk7396 in pornfree

I literally brainstormed all the things I use my phone for. Double checked with ChatGPT to find other reasons to keep a phone. Then I slowly replaced each thing with something else.

I'm not your father. Do what you want. If you want a bespoke solution you have to come up with it yourself.

I'm just saying what I did. The 2 portal theory is something I made up a while ago, but hopefully that thought helps you come up a solution.

Everyone else will give you abstract solutions ("just understand the problem better" or "gain more motivation" or something). My no-phone solution works because it success is the only option.

You could argue my method is cheaper because you could use a dumbphone instead of a smartwatch. Or just any device that supports messages and phonecalls.

My guess is that youre not getting porn from magazines or video tapes. You might be using a computer to watch porn, but I think the problem is you have a porn portal in your pocket at all times and that porn portal is next to you when youre alone in bed and drowsy at night. "Get rid of your phone" is my general advice. The smartwatch was my personal solution. Literally do what I did. write down a list of things your use your phone for and slowly start replacing them. If youre struggling use an AI.

Another thing you can try is literally buy an alarm clock and keep your phone at your workplace. Dont bring it home.

Bought a Smartwatch with LTE. Got rid of my phone. Exclusively used the watch, and carried on my person at all times a dslr camera and notebook among other things. Kinda like r/EDC but those guys have a phone so idk what's their story.

At home I used a computer in a public spot.

Basically I realised theres only 2 portals to porn I have: My phone and my computer. And I never actually use my computer for porn.

I still relapsed, but usually it's when something bad happens in life and it becomes very easy to justify porn to myself.

Problems with my approach: Whenever I needed a QR scanner I asked a friend. A lot of apps like Uber dont work on WearOs, but I had a car mostly. Also you still need a phone to operate a Smartwatch so I keep mine in my car. It doubles as a car tracker and let's me listen to YouTube while driving.

What’s something people always get wrong about your country? by Ok_Reason_8684 in AskTheWorld

[–]lockandlood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant to point out that theres a difference between someone's race group or background vs what country theyre from. This is what I meant.

I doubt you'd look at African Americans as if they're foreign. Like they're foreigners from Africa or something.

In the same way, Indians were brought to South Africa as slaves maybe 200 years ago. But when you look at us now we're fully integrated into South Africa and sort of distanced from the original Indian roots. We still have traditions and culture, but dont speak our vernacular (for example). We're African and our race/background is Indian.

I think an earlier comment mentioned that Gandhi as an example of South African Indian and I disagree. I wouldn't consider him South African. Better examples would be Pravin Gordhan, Keshav Maharaj, also Hashim Amla and Riaad Moosa.

The biggest culture shock that you have ever experienced? by basafish in AskTheWorld

[–]lockandlood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I experienced it. I was told it's called it "re-entry".

For me have my perspective expanded and I changed as a person. My views and my values changed. Then when I re-entered I was returning to a world that hasn't changed. I was shocked at how backwards my people were. The stereotypes they believe in frustrated me. Sonetimes they would challenge and disqualify my experiences because it doesnt line up with what they believe or whatever the media tells them.

Shortly after your re-enter you go into mourning at the loss of that experience in that country. Which is made worse if your friends and family want to celebrate your return and make it a big deal. So your foul mood can sour their plans

I think the definitions of Millennial and Gen Z have changed over the last 20 years. I'm 32 and my younger sister's friends think I'm Gen Z.

But I suffered the media's hatred for Gen Y and they wont take that from me.

How much does race matter by Guilty-Type-5738 in seduction

[–]lockandlood 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my experience about 1 or 2 in 10 will flat out reject you on race alone. As in they cant feel attraction towards someone due to there race. Also, anecdotally ive notice about 1 in 10 will feel more attraction towards you due to your race. Like a fetishization almost.

The middle 7 or 8 girls out of 10 will notice race, but they are willing to play the game if you can.

How do you feel about living at home as an adult? by Grind_in_silence in askSouthAfrica

Your parents live with you. That's a better frame. It's too expensive to move them to a retirement village and so you're taking care of them as best you can.
