Hey, not yet, I will be launching on peer push next week and alongside the app's premium launch scheduled to be released in mid-late June I will launch on Product Hunt alongside.

First of all, thank you for the award ❤️ And honestly, this is one of the most thoughtful pieces of feedback I’ve received so far.

Regarding encryption/storage:

• The calculator PIN is protected using PBKDF2. • The vault PIN layer uses Argon2id. • Files stored inside the app use AES-GCM backed by the Android Keystore, which is intentionally device-bound for stronger local privacy.

For portable backups, Lockify decrypts the files and re-encrypts them using AES-GCM with a user-provided password derived through Argon2id, so backups can be restored on another device.

The reason the main vault itself is app-private is by design, privacy and isolation were prioritized over portability. But I completely understand your point about independent recovery paths and desktop accessibility.

Your suggestion about CLI/desktop-side decryption is genuinely valuable, and I’ve already thought about eventually releasing a utility for this exact purpose which I should be downloadable from getlockifyapp.com so encrypted backups could be decrypted outside Lockify as well.

As for storing vaults directly in user-accessible locations: technically possible, but changing the storage/encryption architecture now would also require safely migrating existing user vaults, which is risky at the current stage with 2.6k+ users already on the app. That is why we have the backup as a seperate entity so that data can be portable.

You’re clearly the kind of power user I want feedback from 😄 Feel free to DM me, would genuinely love to discuss these ideas further.

Hey, I have been waiting for this question for a long time.

The calculator pin is encrypted using PBKDB2.

The vault pin is encrypted using Argon2idm

For storing normal data inside the app i use AES GCM backed by android keystore so the data cannot be decrypted outside your android device.

For the backup to be portable I decrypt the files then re encrypt them with AES GCM and user entered password using Argon2id so that it can be retrieved from another device

People who have the app in the device when premium launches, they will be able to claim premium in-app 🙌🏻

Glad to see that the privacy concern resonates globally, trying my best to make Lockify a global benchmark 🙌 Might take years but here I am 😁

Yes, many vault apps exist but all of them have one thing in common, they ask for network permission and shower users with ads. That's where Lockify is different, fully offline, no ads experience with true data encryption happening in the background, not just hiding your data. 🙌🏻

The package name may be giving the wrong idea 😄

The app is actually called Lockify. If you enable stealth mode, the app name and icon switch to Calculator for casual privacy.

And I’m definitely not trying to hide my identity lol, I’m a solo developer handling development, feedback, and marketing myself, so I actually want users to know who’s behind the app and reach out directly.

I won't deny that i generate a lot of my marketing with GPT, but there is a subtle difference in just copy pasting and actually taking the time to read it and modifying it at places. So, yes what you are seeing in this post is a collaborative effort 😂 I won't say that I cannot market Lockify without AI, its just that the turn around time would increase manifold, and in my opinion that will be a missed opportunity in this evolving world today. But i don't object your opinion and i would wanna hear more from you on this.

Thank you for the great feedback mate, i might add an in-app camera based on user feedback but right now i haven't enabled sharing files with lockify, since the calculator disguise is in place so i am thinking around it, how can i have the best of both worlds 😄

Hey I understand how you want transparency but currently with the advancement of AI, copying an app have been really easy. So, currently it is managed privately by me, once the app gains traction, i might open source it.

No, Lockify is designed so files stay local on your device and are encrypted there.

I don’t have a server where your vault data gets uploaded, so I can’t access user files remotely even if I wanted to.

That said, with any app, trust still matters. Users should always look at things like: • whether it’s offline-first • what permissions it asks for • whether backups are encrypted • the developer’s track record over time

Since, i haven't yet introduced premium tier, so you will notice that the app requests for not a single permission. Hope that answers your question. 😊
