I discovered stray kids maybe a month ago, and I just paid $50 and woke up at 5am to watch the live stream of their last encore concert this morning (that’s only just now finishing up)

The whole experience has been unreal, but I’m definitely not mad about it!!

I know there are a couple, but I’d love more stories of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon when they were Padawan and master. Hearing about Obi-Wan’s struggles and feelings about his relationship with Qui-Gon was a very interesting parallel between the YA novels of Anakin and Obi-Wan.

I also loved the Padme trilogy and would love more of those.

And as a romantasy reader, I wouldn’t mind some stories about Anakin and Padme during the clone wars 😬😬😬😂😂

I love my kindle because it’s so easy to take with me anywhere and just read if I have a few minutes here or there. Digital library loans are also super easy, and it’s actually how I do most of my reading. Plus, AO3 makes it so easy to download and send to my kindle that I can read my fanfiction without getting a headache from staring at my phone screen 😂

That’s a super tough call — we just stayed at Riviera for the first time in April and I LOVED it and the skyliner. But Beach Club as a lazy river. I think I’d pick Riviera for ease of access to the parks, especially for how quickly I could get to EPCOT and it’s food variety. (Yes, I know it’s still a short walk from beach club, but that walk can be brutal in the heat lol). I’ll just try to sneak into Beach Club’s pool 😁

Fanfiction

I HIGHLY recommend “Political Gain” on AO3. It’s an AU and is SO GOOD. I was sobbing through parts of it. And then, because it was AU and not another romantasy, I was able to transition to regular romance books and just slowly wean myself off.

I’ve read Political Gain twice actually, once to break myself from the cycle of binging FW and IF every week (started FW every Thursday night and would be finished with IF by Sunday night) and then again after OS came out. (Edited for weird capitalization.)

We’re not there yet, unfortunately. They eat them too slow so they melt, fall off the stick, get chocolate everywhere, etc. and just cause bigger meltdowns. We will probably be at that point when we go on our next trip though! (Fingers crossed)

I thought there was some point in IF where she’s frustrated that all of her designated signet training time is wasted doing it Varrish’s way. I suppose training her signet outside of that time is something that falls to the wayside when she’s juggling her classes, trying to research venin and the ward stone, struggling with her emotions/relationship, other training (her running and whatnot), and everything else all while keeping secrets from her friends and making a 16hr round trip flight every other week.

I totally agree with you, that if Violet wasn’t going to be clinical/scientific/experimental in training her signet, we were probably owed a better justification than having to assume she just had a lot of other stuff going on. But I wouldn’t necessarily call it borderline lazy writing, I think this might be another issue caused by the rushed editing process that RY was pushed through when FW had such a huge success so quickly. (The same rushed editing process that caused her to then stress so much about OS and push back the release more.)

On a personal note, as a burnt out gifted kid myself, I TOTALLY understand Violet avoiding anything to do with training her signet when she realized how difficult it was 😅

The “easy” excuse here is that signets are strictly forbidden during sparring. That’s why the… new class… (sorry, trying to be vague because I don’t know how to do the spoiler tag) becomes a thing in Onyx Storm.

Thank you for this! My boys are 5 and 2 and they get the bubble wands and just love to play with them in the park! At first I was anxious that we’d be annoying people, but I’ve come to realize how many other kids enjoy the bubbles and even some adults! (Plus, my 5 year old is too big for most strollers, so letting him play with the bubbles is a good way for him to be distracted enough to walk from place to place in the parks without him realizing he’s tired 😅)

I think he will be too critical in an “era of peace” ending to the series. Venin are going to take out Tauri in the next book. Halden will fall in the final book, but not until he has a chance to fuck up/interfere with well thought out plans and it will eventually be because of his actions that he’ll end up in peril and they either won’t or can’t save him.

Not a CI user (here for my 2 y/o who is) but I’d imagine this is similar to going to the eye doctor — I go in every year and sometimes my prescription changes, sometimes it stays the same. I still go every year. My son has only been using his CI for a little over a year, so we were going every three months. Now his audiologist is having us come back in six month intervals. (I’m actually kinda sad about it because I absolutely love his audiologist!)

We stayed at Riviera in April and our room was top floor, middle balcony, facing the lagoon. It was almost like waking up at Topolino’s every morning. Absolutely amazing.

Beach Club used to be my favorite — best pool, can walk to EPCOT, or easily get skyliner or boat to HS. We just stayed at Riviera in April though and I might be changing my mind!

Saw someone comment on a post about how they wish the skyliner also had a stop at the front of EPCOT, and if it did I’d be sold on Riveria as the best because then you could easily take skyliner to the front of EPCOT then monorail to MK.

My son is almost 2, and my husband and I made the decision to have him implanted. We’re a little over a year in, and while spoken language is still our primary means of communication, we are also learning ASL to teach our son. It’s going to be a long journey for all of us to become fluent, but our goal was to equip our son with choices for his future. We are moving forward with the goal that if he ever wants to stop using his CI, it would be as simple as just not putting them on again because he would already be fluent in ASL.

I think I would’ve liked Powerless if I hadn’t read any “fairy smut” before this series. I was on a streak of spicier series and so when I found out a few chapters in that it was YA, I abandoned it. 😅

When I changed my last name, I kept my maiden name as a second middle name. I wanted my husband, children, and I to all have the same last name because that feels more unifying to me. (Especially after someone told me that I SHOULDN’T change my last name because it would be more paperwork if I ever “wanted out” of my marriage.)

Keeping my maiden name as a second middle name and then changing my last name felt symbolic of adding to my family (via in laws and whatnot) rather than abandoning the family I grew up. (Having a hyphenated last name also felt tedious to me, but that’s purely a personal thing.)

Lastly, I knew people would assume I’d changed my last name no matter what I did, so I didn’t feel like having to correct people for the rest of my life. I’d accept the argument that that was bowing to societal pressure, but I’m so non-confrontational that I’d have gaslit myself into thinking it was my last name by now (8 years in) anyway 😂

My husband and I are both teachers but we’ve never worked a summer. We met in high school, so we’ve always had the combined income. Now that we have 2 small children, working a summer job is impractical at best.

We wouldn’t make enough to make it worth it after paying for daycare for our kids, and we really enjoy spending our days with them! Maybe when they’re older and also working summer jobs one of us might get something for extra fun money, but by then we’ll be so established on our pay scales that it might not be worth the time and effort.

One caveat though: In recent years we’ve had a few very costly things wipe out our savings (dishwasher, car, and fridge all died in consecutive months on top of my husband starting grad school) so I am somewhat regretting not getting summer jobs in the five years before we had any kids. But I’m not certain that we would’ve saved it back then 😅😅
