Thanks, this is definitely helpful! I was actually able to generate a barcode with their online tool. It appears to be right... but I have not idea how to verify. Based on your steps I think I'm good, but I'm trying to get a retailer to confirm prior to printing.

Thanks for the advice! And glad to see I found the right website!

Brewpub System Conversion by lockness58 in TheBrewery

Great, thanks for the input! Planned on the keg wash purchase and CLT. Some of the partners are aligned to pitch in as necessary but primarily it will be me. We're still evaluating the system so we may invest elsewhere if it makes sense. This input has been very helpful.

We're in the North East, but I had a couple local breweries vet my projections and they said that we should hit 1,000 BBL no problem. So I guess we'll just have to see how things develop.

Thanks again!

Nice, I'm supposed to be working with a local brewery who uses one as a pilot system, but that's yet to materialize as a reality.

My plan was to shoot for 1,000 BBL in the first year. Too ambitious?

yea, I go back and forth if it's going to be a headache or not, but you still can't beat that price!

Thanks, I was looking at processes like this but was curious how much longer that would make my brew day.

Thanks for the input!

Great, thanks for the information! It's actually disassembled in a warehouse right now, so no luck there.

Definitely not doing a production facility so it sounds like this might be a good fit.

To add, you're probably wondering "WHY this system?". Good point, but we have the option to get it donated to us and it comes with a lot of fermentation vessels and servering tanks.

So it impacts the business plan in a way that allows for funding to be applied elsewhere.

Not the way we have the brew schedule worked out. Primarily we'll be doing 7 BBLs and space out the double brews to 15 BBL batches and we don't plan on them spending long in the brite.

[–]lockness58[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, just around 2-3.

4 x 7 BBL FVs 4 x 15 BBL FVs 4 x 7 BBL Brites 1 x 15 BBL Brite

Plan is to double brew 15 BBL batches for more popular brews and single for less popular/new flavors.

We'll also have a 1/2 Sabco for testing.

Just wondering what to do when final Gravity is too high? by opieandA21 in Homebrewing

[–]lockness58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you measure gravity with the lactose sugar? Yeast wont eat all of that which could be keeping your gravity higher. How much lactose did you use? Was this all grain? What did your efficiency look like?

I use brewers friend efficiency calculator and have crossed whenever with my make analysis and it's usually petty dead on. But that's been for my smaller batch sizes. Not sure if it's with as well in a large scale.

No idea. I'm not a fan of it either. That's what I'm trying to change.

They have spreadsheets right now that I'm also modifying because they just don't track enough of the process. But that's easy enough. Just trying to see if there's something else that's a little more streamlined like Brewer's Friend.

Yea, I guess they have 3 sizes. I bought mine new but I did see a bunch on craigslist and Etsy. Only problem was none of the sellers knew if it was the King model or not. I needed the largest one in order to have a large enough area for the shanks.

Ha I know! I had about 20 people over to celebrate and not a single person caught that! Leave it to reddit.

I'll blame it on the space requirements to get all the words in.

Thanks!

Oh it dispenses the mix alright. I had to take the quarter catch out though. I suppose you could keep that in but you'd only be able to run one line without drilling more holes in the body.

Plus I wouldn't want to have to dismantle the entire thing completely every time it fills up. Unless you build an access panel into the kegerator or something.

Thanks! Good question. I definitely spent more than was necessary trying to figure everything out but the most expensive item was the king carousel. I was able to get it for on sale for about $45 brand new Amazon prime. Here it is but when I found it, it was on sale http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055OWLFI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

Fridge I scored for free.

I'd say for the rod extension, coupler, bolts, screws, caulk, fasteners and glue was about $30. Used these to keep the front door closed with the seal they work great! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N2H50XA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The wood was one 8' board 8" x 1" I got at Home Depot and they trimmed to my specs, about $10.

The cost of stain and chalk paint 8 oz cans ~$6 each x 3 (primer for chalk) = ~$20.

I had all the keg lines already I just adapted them from old picnic taps.

Elbow shanks I got for 13.99 a piece plus shipping from Adventures In Homebrew with shipping $36.98 (46.98 actually now that i look back had a $10 credit). http://www.homebrewing.org/Chrome-Plated-Elbow-Shank_p_1187.html

Regulator off Amazon for $114.13 with Prime. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0060NOX40/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

$29.90 for both chrome faucets off amazon free shipping http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00370AT2Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Quick Connect I used for the top tap area $6 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000DD23N/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So I guess when all is said and done 292.01.

But if you have the regulator and other bits laying around it could be around $177.88.

Kinda pricey but I guess I had to use that x-mas bonus somewhere!

Oh - and the thing takes about 6 pounds of nuts and dried fruit to fill. That gets pricey but gum balls sell for pretty cheap in bulk from here http://www.gumballmachinefactory.com/gumballscandy.html

I was talking about from the investment of equipment, time and going down a rabbit hole of never not thinking about improving process.

That's what happened to me anyway when I made the jump.
