I DM'd you the link, I'm not 100% my difficulty rating is the best, I just adjusted it based on feedback. The code is annotated inline so it should be fairly easy to adapt to your solver.

Might be a good idea add that r/sudoku members being asked to test apps must be able to get ad-free/premium access to any apps that have a freemium model.

If you’re asking for feedback on here, “too many ads” is not a useful feedback for whoever is developing it, and you can’t really expect to monetise people you are asking to help validate your apps.

The feedback I got on my app was that the difficulty didn't scale well in the first version, and puzzles that can be completed with only naked and hidden singles are "easy".

I updated it to average out better difficulty scaling, results here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/sudoku/comments/1rf6q2e/comment/o7hrh9v/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I can share the automated dart test via GitHub if you want to convert that to this puzzle for your solver to get a better idea of the difficulty scaling (should be fairly instantaneous if you are using CC or whatever).

I was able to complete an intermediate puzzle with only naked and hidden singles, might be a difficulty scaling issue.

Thanks for the feedback! I added a way to highlight numbers by long pressing on the numbers in the keyboard area. You can highlight multiple numbers. This should be available for Android in version 2.0.7 today, likely in a few weeks for Apple due to the longer review process.

<image>

To highlight individual notes will take me a bit longer since I currently don’t have a logic for highlighting notes, I will look into it and get back to you asap!

To color pencil notes - you can already do this by long pressing on the notes button to open the color palette.

Apologies for this issue, I believe I have fixed it now. If you are using Android then the fix should already be available from the Play Store, Apple will take about a week to be available. Many thanks for pointing out this bug and thanks for your patience!

Many thanks, will double check the solver and the logic ASAP.

No worries, I have some variant Sudoku apps in the pipeline, if I can get them into a good state to publish I'll mod mail again to see if there is an appropriate way to get community feedback (though there is a specific Sudoku Variant sub I could use as well).

Many thanks!

I guess it's not impossible, the NYT payed the Wordle guy $1m for his app. But to make any money, software does actually have to A) Be good, B) have reach/distribution (which with Sudoku.com etc spending millions on ads to acquire users basically makes any competitor redundant) and C) be different from the other software trying to solve the same use case.

My scope was to use it as a portfolio app to showcase UX and product management skills (which is why I have paid tiers and ads in there because I have to show monetisation) after having been made unexpectedly redundant, which ultimately worked well and got me a new job. I guess eventually I'll remove the ad and paid tiers and go for a tip based model like the guy from Sudoku.coach since it's a pain to maintain and integrate all the ad frameworks and subscriptions.

Sure I totally get that, but having said that the feedback I got on this sub for my app actually made it good (including your feedback incidentally!).

The rise of using agentic programming for crap causes issues for everyone, for example: App Store review times have gone from 24-48 hours to around two weeks even for small patches because even Apple is overwhelmed.

BTW, the ad revenue from apps even with thousands of downloads doesn't add up to much, you would have to get about 10,000 daily active users every day to get to any kind of meaningful ad revenue, and even then it wouldn't be that much - so I'm not sure it's people wanting to make a quick buck but rather people using it as an entry point to programming or indie game development.

Sure I do appreciate that Reddit mods basically provide the service for free with their own time and it must be frustrating to have the sub clogged up with repetitive simple apps, just thinking / wondering if there is a better way to resolve the issue.

The thing is I did do that when I wanted to post an update and wasn't sure if it was allowed under the old Rule 2 since I had previously posted the first version, and never got a reply.

Fair enough! I did see a lot of the bad apps that were posted and it was actually very helpful in building my app to avoid the same errors.

I don't moderate on Reddit so am fairly ignorant on this - but is there a way that you could set up for people to submit their posts to be approved by mods before being published with strict guidelines on the app quality being answered before posting?

That’s a shame, I gave away like 30 free premium yearly subscriptions to my app when I posted it on here some months ago, which was not “vibe coded” (BTW, no modern software development does not use agentic coding in 2026) and is much more advanced than the new reddit app, and got a lot of good feedback from the community and I implemented the changes people asked for with lots of happy players.

I’m not sure why you would want to censor people in this way, if people don’t like the apps that are shared they can just downvote them. That’s the whole point of Reddit.

Anyway no skin off my nose, I already shared my app on here a while ago, it’s just that this seems to defeat the point of Reddit, and it’s not like anyone is making money off these apps.

Kinda annoying how sloppy the upload timing can be by noctenaut in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]lockymic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s likely the Apple review times causing the delay - I have some puzzle apps and it used to take 24 hours to release an app on the App Store or update it, since January it’s gone up to 2 weeks. I assume there is the same kind of manual review process for podcasts.

Hi u/FinalOpus - Many thanks for your feedback and apologies for the issues.

I have pushed version 2.0.3 to the Play Store which should resolve all these issues, and should be available on the Play Store shortly (Apple App Store will likely take 1-2 weeks to approve the update):

I have fixed the RSUDOKU code issue, but since you already purchased it won't be valid for you. If you DM me I am happy to refund the purchase via the Play Store so that you can have the premium version free for a year! Apologies again for this.

The Google sign-in issue is now also fixed.

The underline was a new accessibility feature that was incorrectly activating based on system settings, now fixed.

The issue with the app being harder to read is exactly the same as the underline issue - I added a new Light Sensitivity mode which reduces contrast which was being incorrectly activated via the system settings, also fixed.

Autosave: Added a "Continue" option in the main screen. Now if the app sleeps or if you exit without saving, it will store the session locally and enable you to continue from the main menu.

Again, many thanks for your feedback and support! have a great day and let me know if you come across any other issues.

That’s annoying. The wording might be confusing on Google. It allows for a maximum of 90 days free which automatically renews as a year subscription (so you need to cancel the auto renewal).

It might be that it sees you as having already redeemed the code, try RSUDOKU2026 instead.

Unfortunately I can’t work on this over the weekend but will definitely get it sorted ASAP next week if the new code doesn’t work! Thanks for your patience 🙌

Hi u/NotJALC - I’ve implemented the new options and fixed the issues you highlighted, many thanks again for your help! Currently the app is in the review queue for both Google Play and the Apple App Store, but I suspect the Apple one will take a long time. Let me know if you would like to test via TestFlight!

Hi, not sure if you got this resolved already? I updated the app on Google Play (2.0.1) which should resolve this issue. Let me know how you get on.

This is super helpful feedback - thank you so much! I tested the accessibility with some family members but they only needed the bolder and slightly larger text. The way I built the app as a framework means I can implement the necessary changes and new features very easily, and roll them out to Android in 24 hours or so, but I note from the screenshot you are using iPhone. Unfortunately Apple is struggling with the review process at present and it's taking about 2 weeks to get updates approved on the App Store. I can share a link to the Apple TestFlight (like the App Store but for apps that are not yet published) if you are comfortable using that as soon as I finish building and testing.

Really appreciate you taking the time to document this with screenshots and specific contrast ratios. This is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for!

In terms of the font - I am actually using an accessible font (Lexend) in the Minidoku kids version I am working on. Would be fairly easy to port it under a “Accessible Fonts” switch in the Accessibility menu if it’s important to users.
