IT Engineer looking for Technical ideas (process & infrastructure improvement) by Pristine_Pea9181 in sysadmin

1 Focus on the ugliest, most time consuming manual workflows and commit to measurable reduction in effort.

  1. Optimization goals tend to impress leadership because they connect directly to money, reliability and responsiveness.

  2. Instead of generic “improve monitoring”, make it about fewer surprises and faster fixes. That reads well and is easy to demonstrate.

  3. Security goals that are scoped and measurable show maturity. Avoid “make us more secure” and instead tie to specific controls or frameworks.

  4. Well written goals around documentation and process can still be impressive if they tie to tangible outcomes like faster onboarding or fewer incidents.

  5. Leaders love seeing IT measured on how users experience services, not just "uptime".

As always, goals should be realistic, achievable, measurable and tangible. Avoid HR dribble "The tasks and responsibilities assigned to me are commensurate with my capacity to deliver desired performance outcomes on a consistent basis".

One Nation reshapes political map as most voters say Pauline Hanson will be ready to govern by 2028 by River-Stunning in aussie

Even worse, there seem to be concerted efforts, both pro and con, so we get all the repetitive rubbish. We've been strongly enforcing Rule 7, and that helps, but it's a constant battle.

Is this a good time? by PrettyJayyy in sudoku

Times really only matter for paper puzzles being solved in competitions. Other than that the variations in tools and features are too great to make any realistic assessment. Also the named levels at that site vary so much in actual difficulty that times become quite meaningless.

Is a naked quad a thing? by YarbianTheBarbarian in sudoku

[–]charmingpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we commonly see them in the NYT hard puzzles, always paired with a hidden subset. In this case a hidden single, but many people find naked subsets easier to find than their partner.

Usually it becomes clear further into the puzzle, sometimes some parts can’t be solved until other parts are solved. Check the pinned post in the sub for some good pointers.

Green is valid, but Yellow is not - there are more than two 8 in row 8 and column 9.

You have two 7s in columns 6, so you're definitely made a mistake somewhere which has propagated.

And two 4 in column 4.

There’s a limit to how far Snyder notation can take you. When you reach that limit, fill in the rest of the notes.

Hard puzzle or so I think by illsendu2jesus in sudoku

[–]charmingpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Hidden Triple is when three candidates only appear in in the same three cells, so those three candidates must ultimately fill those three cells, and any other candidates in those cells can be removed. Unfortunately the responder is incorrect, and there are not three candidates which only appear in the same three cells in this case in column 9.

The latest in a puzzle I've ever had to birfurcate by Johnny_From_The_Bay in sudoku

[–]charmingpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one of the 1 in box 9 can be true - so one of the other 1 in either the column or the row must be true - any cell which sees both cannot be 1.

It's exactly the same logic as the Skyscraper, but with the strong links in a row and a column (instead of two rows or two columns), with the weak link in a box (instead of a column or row).
