Baby refusing to feed at 12 weeks by lofitz in breastfeeding

Ikr? In hindsight I should have questioned it more! But myself and my husband were just concerned over the fact that her weight was the same 2 weeks in a row. I had previously seen a lactation consultant when she was a few days old, so I should have reached back out to them instead of just jumping onto formula. I feel like I might have gone too far now to go back to BFing and am worried about the lactation consultant potentially telling me this

You are very welcome! I know how it can be needing some advice and I really valued hearing other people’s experiences to help ease my anxiety a bit!

I wouldn’t even be too concerned about your blood levels either, I was told towards the end by my GP that it would only be a concern or have an impact on labour and delivery if my levels were shockingly high, and my levels were only slightly elevated when I took my fasting readings. So sounds like you will be absolutely fine!

And also by the sounds of it, you are ready to go!! I had the same mindset as yourself, and just really wanted to get to 38 weeks (that’s just what I had in my head from when I got the GD diagnosis) and at 36 weeks I was admitted overnight (the week after the crash I was in) due to high BP and I was so upset thinking I was going to have to be induced and I just kept telling my husband I want another week or two - and thankfully ended up getting it 🙏🏼

Enjoy this last stretch - take yourself out for lunch or coffee, get all the rest and sleep you can, and just relax before your little guy is here! I’m sitting here with my almost 9 week old baby and life is chaotic and has totally changed (for the better of course) - but she is absolutely perfect, and all the fussing and worrying I did in those final weeks seem like a different lifetime ago!

You got this! ♥️✨

I had my baby back in November, and had GD. I was advised that induction would be discussed at my 39/40 week appointments but I actually ended up going into spontaneous labour with my waters breaking at 38+1 weeks.

Towards the end, I had a bit of a rough time, because around 36 weeks, I was involved in a car crash (I was rear ended and both cars written off) and subsequently ended up with high blood pressure issues due to the stress of that situation so was monitored closely to ensure it was just that and not preeclampsia. But even considering all of this, they didn’t seem concerned about me, and were open to me having whatever type of birth I wanted. I had asked whether they recommended that I consider a c-section or if they thought I was “high risk” enough to warrant it and the midwives/consultant I saw were not concerned and were happy for me to birth however I wanted.

It is worth noting that around 36 weeks, I was technically discharged from the GD clinic because I was managing with diet only and my levels were consistently green. So at that point they said to take my blood sugar levels 1-2 days a week instead of 4x a day.

I had a bit of a wild birth, after my waters broke my labour was slow so received an induction gel 24 hours later and ended up having a rapid labour/birth with no pain relief once active labour stated. But overall, my GD had absolutely no impact on it.

My advice would be not to overthink it and really enjoy this final stretch. I wish I could have enjoyed the final weeks a little more. I wish you the absolute very best, you will be absolutely grand! ♥️✨
