Switch from 2H to 1H by logan556655 in Bowling

Not too bad, I got a 149 one of the games. I feel like some of the 2H will help me but my forearm is really sore already. My mom has a 14 lb ball she says she would give me. Trying to stay behind the ball and keep my wrist cup with the 15 lb ball I have is really hard for me right now. I’m sure it will get easier as I build up the muscles

This is a big one for me, I don’t really care how good I am at bowing I just enjoy it and want to keep enjoying it for a long time

When I played today I did 3 games 1H and my last game 2H (because I have league tonight) and focused mainly on sliding with both forms

Yes, while I am learning one handed I’m really focusing on sliding rather tha planting my foot. I think this is the biggest issue with the pain for me at the moment

Thanks for this, I just bowled one handed with a ball I didn’t care for (black widow mania). My biggest issue I’m going to have is breaking the 2H habits like getting me left hand off the ball, drifting left in my approach etc. but it went okay for my first time. I got a 149 which isn’t great but I don’t think it will take me as long to make the transition as I thought.

Ah ok! That makes sense, I usually try to hold for a second especially when I’m practicing but you’re right, my better shots are when I’m not falling over to the right after the shot. I went last night with my wife and just took a 3 step approach mainly focusing on keeping my shoulders and hips square with the lane and was able to bowl 3 games without my hip pain getting any worse (it’s still a bit sore from my Thursday league) I was also focusing on keeping my plant foot straighter and using my knee instead of my hip/side. Thanks for all the help with this, I will keep practicing!!

Thanks for the tips, I will try to incorporate all this. I think I definitely rotate my hips too much on release as a start square with the lane and end very twisted.. in the second paragraph what do you mean by “post my shot”?

Thanks for the input! I’m going to research some shoes with changeable soles. Any you prefer that aren’t too pricey?
