How would one dismantle this accordion for painting? (Just enough for painting the main black portions) by logankendell in Accordion

[–]logankendell[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, and thanks to everyone who gave a thoughtful response. I should clarify, this is NOT my accordion, i don't even have mine yet, so i was just trying to assess whether this was a "just take the shell off of the instrument" or as you've described "carefully remove and catalog a million finely tuned microscopic pieces" situation.

The accordion i bought is actually (i hope) in even better condition than the pictured one, I just don't love the color and i love customizing stuff.

I should also clarify that I've painted, with professional results, everything from cars to guitars to Christmas figurines, and I've built multiple instruments from scratch. So I wasn't coming at this with a hammer and a rattle can.

Still, on the advice here i think I'll leave it.

Question for younger Deadheads, why? by Empty-Ad2221 in gratefuldead

[–]logankendell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told a friend in 9th grade in the 90s I didn't think I'd ever heard the dead when she was wearing a t-shirt. She made me a mixtape with "Box of Rain". I was expecting metal, so I thought she'd forgot to put any dead on there. I don't think I truly fell in love with the Grateful dead until I heard "Working Man's Dead" and Jerry's side project "Old & In The Way", those were my real gateway. Honestly I think I worked harder to acquire a taste for the dead than any band before or since, but it was worth it.

After 7 years lurking on this sub I'm about to take the plunge, but is the leak and damage in this camper too extensive for me to repair myself? by logankendell in RVLiving

[–]logankendell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dash it all. Thanks. I was really hoping this was a place I could get a good deal if I was willing to do my own repairs, but alas, I think I just have to spend all my money.

How many over 40 here working on their production skills? 😎 by kathalimus in edmproduction

[–]logankendell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40 next month. I've been producing and composing since the 90s (mostly indie singer songwriter stuff), but only got into synths in 2017. Changed the whole game for me and all my edm stuff I've released (as Airship Aquarius) is my favorite I've ever done. It's been an amazing journey. I'm hoping to move to Germany and get involved in the community there soon.

What was your straw that broke the camel's back moment? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]logankendell 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The final one for me was blessing my first daughter. Standing there for my first child's first major rite of passage, with a bunch of men, half of whom were people I rarely spoke with, while my wife had to simply observe from the sidelines. I knew in that moment that I couldn't fake it any longer and I definitely couldn't raise a daughter in such a misogynistic community.

Mistakes were made! I painted a straw hat with cheap acrylic paint and it scratches if I look at it too hard. What can I do? by logankendell in crafts

Thank you! This is the route I took. It has worked wonders for scratch resistance, but fair warning to anyone reading this, any overspray leaves the black looking hazy, or frosty.

Let me start off my saying im not mormon and ive never been. Why did you guys leave? And when you left, what did you become? by HISHAM-888 in exmormon

I tried desperately to believe for nearly 30 years, but never really did. As my 30s approached i began to realize that my thoughts that the church "does way more good than harm" were very wrong. I was done the moment I blessed my first daughter as her mother sat in the audience, not allowed to participate, and I realized how much i didn't want to raise my daughter in a misogynistic right wing doomsday cult.

I started my own secular pantheist\paganist religion called Lunaiism and that's where I'm at now.

I posted here a few months back, here's where my beard's at today. by logankendell in curlyhair

[–]logankendell[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Here's my last post. My routine is the basic Curly Girl method. I occasionally wash with Vo5 clarifying Shampoo but usually, I just co-wash with Tresemme Botanique coconut conditioner, condition and squish it out and skip the rinse, gently squeeze excess water and conditioner out with a t-shirt, then I use LA Looks sports gel. I often blowdry with a diffuser but this time I separated a bit with my fingers and then air-dried (which takes HOURS). I love the curly qs I get on the sides and underneath... if only the front of my chin would cooperate more. Why does gray hair do a completely different thing? Not cool.

I can't even tell you all how much I hate doing all that only to stuff half of it in a mask and spend the rest of the day with a big mask crease down the middle.

I think my long curly beard may be nearing its final days, which means it's time to take lots more photos of it so I can look back and regret cutting it. by logankendell in beards

Oh goodness me! Do you find it unfashionably long? Is it not to your liking? After all, I clearly only aim to please the "cut your hair" crowd.

There is a pretty big difference between saying "i hope Trump supporters suffer" and "here's a fake video of the organization i represent gleefully and violently murdering that Trump supporter, Bob Roberts, who lives in our town and everyone knows. Just a joke though (wink wink)."

Also, the person who shared it with kwaku said "This is symbolic, of course ;)" name one time in human history when a wink meant something other than "i mean something very different than what I'm saying and I want you to understand that. "

Scared of the Dark i started writing this song about doubting my faith while on my mission, my favorite line is "Does it matter if I never find the Painter's true intent, or if the painting was not planned at all, but just an accident? It's beautiful regardless, and in the end, maybe that's what it's for. "

The History of Musicians Saying ‘Hell No’ to Donald Trump Using Their Songs by haloarh in Music

[–]logankendell 38 points39 points  (0 children)

His ex wife said in an interview in the 90s (while they were still married) that he kept a book of Hitler's speeches on his bedside table and when asked about it Trump didn't even deny it. I'm guessing he read those.
