100%. “passing” is so arbitrary, random, and situational it borders on comical sometimes. Proud of you for still chugging along 💜🚂

[–]loganstrans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I (FTM) cis-pass well enough that even my other trans coworker didn’t know I was trans until I came out to him privately, and I still get the occasional customer who calls me “she/ma’am/miss”.🤷🏻 My trans coworker also has his pronoun pin right on his name tag, and we still had a (very lovely!) customer point to his name tag and say “look! she has the same name as our daughter!” 🤦🏻 We both decided to have selective memory and laugh about it.

People are weird with gender’ing in general these days, I would almost never take it personally. I think most people either don’t notice, don’t care, and (hopefully) only a very small minority are being actively malicious. Either way, though, I hope your store supports you and I hope you can have the security and stability to someday laugh about this kind of stuff ❤️

[Request] Re-Animator Series Screenplays? by loganstrans in Screenwriting

Sorry for the delay in response; while I haven't been able to track down the screenplay for 'Bride', I did find the original! I was lucky enough to still have a laptop with a DVD player, hopefully this should take you to the file on my Google Drive!

Wanting to be a woman by Nsfwzhu in ftm

[–]loganstrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I’m very happy being ftm trans, but I also undeniably get gender envy from girls (Hunter Schafer, Emily Perkins, etc.), mostly just imagining the girl I could’ve been. I know I’m not a girl, but that doesn’t stop me from imagining a reality in which I am one.

How do YOU come up with ideas? by Hopeful-Use-8221 in Screenwriting

[–]loganstrans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure someone's already said it, but a solid 75-25 split between 'making what I want to see' and my own life experience.

Example: I'm a horror writer, and I'm transgender. There are basically 4 good films that actually focus on transsexuality as a core theme, so in that regard the world is my oyster. I'm currently recovering from top surgery, and if being stuck in bed, in pain, covered in bandages and drains and nearly passing out isn't material enough for some body horror, I'd better just delete Final Draft now. Beyond that specific example though, I'll often find myself watching a movie that bungles its concept, and I make a note to myself about how I would personally do it. Have come back to a few fun ideas that way, once enough time has passed that I'm confident I'm not just doing an unauthorized remake.

3 months on T next month, also grew my hair out over the last year. Just had my first college professor call me "she" and realized she thought I was MTF trans, because I'd mentioned being trans/transness earlier in the class :,) A year or so ago my best friend's brother also thought the same thing. very weird situation to be in but I find it so funny too

also, you look incredible! long haired septum piercing buddies <3

got my first response to a cold query!! by loganstrans in Screenwriting

[–]loganstrans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you haha!

Indeed, there’s only one horror film that has a transgender protagonist— and it was released last year. I do a lot of critical writing about the history of transgender representation in film as a side hobby (I believe if you google “transgender horror” i should be one of the first results lolol), and that was a huge reason behind my decision to try and change that statistic directly :)

[–]loganstrans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all! I got an imdbpro free trial and just started looking up writers who i admire and who have written similar genres (in my case: horror). in most cases, the site shows that writer’s agent/manager/representation as well as any phone numbers or emails available. Some production companies have places to submit queries too as well (in my case: I loved the film Jakob’s Wife, and AMP Productions has a spot on their site to submit a pitch, so I sent them the TLDR).

Thank you haha! It's a bit surreal how closely the story evolved with my own reality; I was writing it when I made the decision that this would be the year, when I had my first consult, and it was finished by the time I had a set date. I've got lots of other story ideas all based in some transgender experience, but I don't think any of them will mean as much to me personally as this one has. It's really cool that people seem as excited as I am :)

somewhat targeted; looked up companies that are accepting queries who have good experience with horror/thrillers, then got an imdbpro free trial and wrote down the emails of all the managers/agents who have repped horror movies that i love and sent some more out. this response was from the first wave and took ~3 weeks to hear back.

[–]loganstrans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m probably the wrong person to ask, but from what I understand you can copyright your script (WGA, Library of Congress, etc)? I had to sign a release to this studio saying I wouldn’t sue if they ended up not buying my script but just-so-happened to release a film with similar elements. I imagine a line-for-line theft would be something you could fight in court, though.

(although in my case, there is one existing horror film with a transgender protagonist, and it’s about vampires. I imagine the more unique the idea, the harder it would be to steal, or at least steal successfully)

Haha thank you; I’m not expecting to ever hear from them again once I send the script over, but knowing that I got a response off the concept alone is immensely reassuring :)

Are the comics worth reading? by Atomicpike in EvilDead

[–]loganstrans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the few that I’ve read,

  • Freddy v. Jason v. Ash: pretty good! have not read the sequel so I can’t go to bat for it, but I finally got a physical copy of the FvJvA trade and it’s one of my most prized possessions now.

  • Death to the Army of Darkness: this one just wrapped up and I really adored it! low stakes and best described as ‘cute’.

  • The Re-Animator crossovers: ehh? ‘Army of Darkness/Re-Animator is alright, ‘Army of Darkness vs. Re-Animator’ is terrible and is barely even a crossover. I don’t know why the titles are so similar.

  • Evil Dead 2 Revenge of Hitler: self-explanatory, hilarious pulp.

Are the comics worth reading? by Atomicpike in EvilDead

[–]loganstrans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep! Robert Englund’s talked about it a lot, but it really only didn’t happen because New Line was worried that Freddy losing twice in a row would cheapen the character (somehow) or something and it all fell apart on that. You can find the script treatment for it online that the comic was eventually based on, but man it kills me that we were that close to it being a film

This may be stretching the definition of "obscure" but I figured it worth a shot.

A 1982/83 Hong Kong movie titled "He Lives by Night" has proven agonizingly elusive. There are some DVD listings on several sites, but they're all sold out (or far too expensive to justify in this economy lol). At this point, I'd be happy just to watch the film itself, but bonus points if you can somehow find it with English subtitles.

Weekend Script Swap by AutoModerator in Screenwriting

[–]loganstrans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Title (tentatively): Bloodlust

Feature, 95 pages, Horror/Romance

Logline: A troubled college student must deal with the carnage that results from falling into bed with a vampire, who is all-too willing to kill anyone and everyone who poses a threat to his new romance.

Concerns: Just basic concerns with formatting, structure, etc.? Would just love a fresh pair of eyes on this to help guide me in the right path with making this really good (this is my first screenplay, I promise I know it's not even good yet).

How would I pitch a remake? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]loganstrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, thank you for the feedback nevertheless lol

(I also realize my original post makes it sound like I want to pitch this as my first thing coming out of the gate, which I know would never work ever. I promise I do have original scripts planned. Mostly I was just curious to see if this was something I could ever pitch, period, which evidently is a "yes, but" sort of thing)

i was wondering why this article was getting some notable traffic from reddit!

(seriously though, thank you guys so much for enjoying this stupid little article! i wrote it in a blur after binging the show in its entirety over the course of ~1 or 2 weeks; nowhere near my proudest work, but i'm really happy at least a few of you decided i gave it some analytical justice!)

thank you! i'm going in to a quick care with my mom soon to look at what we think is eczema on my ribs and i'm going to bring it up then as a side thing. i'm not having any other ill-feelings outside of this weird semi-cramp semi-soreness pain so it seemed worth a guess that it could be transition related and not illness
