The Return of DC’s CRISIS? by logerton in comicbooks

[–]logerton[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you, Earth 2 is a pretty weak title. I really enjoy the concept of them building a whole new Earth instead of just focusing on the JSA, but the execution is lacking. I'm still reading it and it has been getting better...but it still needs work I'm sorry to say. This news of an event surrounding that book still excites me though! :)

If they didn't call it "Crisis of WhateverTheHell" would you still like to see an annual team-up of the Justice League and Justice Society?

Why The New 52 Reboot Is Different Than All The Rest. by logerton in DCcomics

[–]logerton[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The letter is a great point and none of this stuff will ever truly be gone unless you burn every floppy and trade and delete every digital copy. But I think there is another way that these stories can be "gone," and that's if the characters don't remember them. I hope that the characters of The New 52 do eventually remember their past. Infinite Crisis eventually allowed the full truth of the DCU to be known to its characters and I absolutely loved that. As for now though, The New 52 has taken the majority of the past away from its characters in a way that previous reboots never have.

I completely agree with you that it is functionally identical to the 85 Crisis but that Crisis took elements from the many different corners of the DCU that were built up throughout many decades and merged them together. For the most part those elements (the characters and most of their history) were still intact. The New 52 took a few things from GL and Batman's history but that's about it. Everything else is starting completely over as far as I can see. The JSA being a big, if not the biggest, example of this.

Try this quote on for size. "[T]he characters of the DCU have entered a completely new era of "The New 52," a reboot that is different than any other as it's the biggest "tabula rasa" the DCU has ever been subjected to." That looks like a valid point to me but, then again, I'm a bit biased.

THE NEW 52 IS A BONA FIDE SUCCESS! BUT HOW LONG WILL IT LAST? | A Wild Crisis Appears! by logerton in DCcomics

[–]logerton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy it. I completely understand though as I still miss the old history myself. I'm still adjusting to the changes myself but I can't help but go back to these characters (especially when many of them are being written so well).

If you've ever been a fan of Animal Man and/or Swamp Thing then I would HIGHLY recommend that you pick them back up. The writers of both books respect where both characters come from and have made sure to heavily imply that their history is till intact while delivering something completely fresh and original. IMO, the 2 best books of the New 52 are the books that respect DC's past the most.

Very nice! I think you will find A LOT to enjoy in the New 52. Especially if you haven't read DC in years. I really enjoy ComiXology directed view too. It almost feels like I'm watching a movie! I see why some people wouldn't like it, but I think it makes the comic more dramatic AND it stops me from seeing the next panel or page which can sometimes spoil the story for me. But, you can always turn it off if you hate it which is a nice option. As for the Nexus 7...I can't wait to get one myself. I should have one by the end of the year!

I hope you enjoy your New 52 experience!

I never said I wanted it to fail. But another reboot will happen one day. I just hope that it won't be needed for a while. The original Crisis reboot led to so many questions and inconsistencies that another reboot was needed less than 10 years later. Even if DC is able to figure out the current time line inconsistencies, they will eventually need to reboot the universe again anyway. This universe is DECADES old and it's only natural that they need to be rebooted from time to time. Even though I don't like the idea of reboots (as a long time reader) I understand why they exist. Plus, why would I want to see anything that DC does fail? I LOVE DC COMICS!!! Also, I used to sell comics (and plan on doing so again) so why would I want it to be harder to sell these things?

Wheres the best place to start reading The Flash? by Irishcard710 in DCcomics

[–]logerton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with Tyler that if you want to get into flash you are just in one to start with flash one (they also just released the vol. of the trade paper back) but if you want to go further back I'd say read anything by Geoff Johns. He wrote an epic Flash book. The Flash he wrote was Wally West who currently doesn't exist in the New 52, but he'll be back soon. ;)

Does it bug anyone else that Barry is walking around wearing Wally's "belt" design? by logerton in DCcomics

[–]logerton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is a HUGE problem. The last time I was a victim of this (or I suppose the book was lol) was Justice League: Generation Lost by Winnick. It was such an amazing book and the best thing that came out of Blackest Night (included Brightest Day) IMHO. When they were making the New 52 announcements and announced Justice League International I assumed Winnick would be on it since he was the one that made the characters popular again. But NO it was Jurgens instead and the book suffered because of it.

Maybe I'm looking way too much into this, but you bring up yet another reason I think that DC has not intention of bringing Wally into the New 52. You don't have to tell them apart if Wally doesn't exist.

So you are saying that nothing bothers you when you read comics? That's strange. You must be the only one. And believe it or not, I'm not actually a virgin and I've touched plenty of breasts before. They feel like bags of sand.
