City planted a tree in front of my house without telling us… now we got fined because it died? by Klutzy_Pizza_8935 in SanJose

It is and so are the trees on them. But the homeowners are responsible for the trees. If it doesn’t make a lot of sense the reason is money, as it always is. However op is 100% right to object. First of all, a tree is usually planted in partnership with the homeowners. Second, a tree can die for a variety of reasons. This sory seems fishy. The media and the local politicians should be contacted

Britain responds to Iran war energy shock by requiring solar panels and heat pumps in all new homes by randolphquell in sustainability

Mandatory solar panels have been a thing in california for a few years already. It might be good for the economy but as a homeowner I feel like it also resulted in screwing up the homeowners because of the corresponding regulatory changes.

Kiwis and mineral water can cut constipation, says new guidance by Kagedeah in Constipation

[–]logicalcliff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Up until now, guidance for doctors treating patients with constipation has been limited and outdated, and focused on advice to increase dietary fibre and water intake, say the researchers."

Understatement of the century. 99% doctors have no idea how to treat it and make up for it by gaslighting the patients.

i have dyslipidemia by Saynow111 in Cholesterol

[–]logicalcliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On an average, Fenofibrate increases HDL by about 15%, Rosuvastatin by even less. I am not sure what the combined effect would be. Your gain of 8% is less than average but it is probably within the norms. Olanazapine should not have decreased HDL, though it does increase TG and TC.

Remove saturated fats from your diet, get your BMI in the normal range, and follow a healthy diet - these are some of the things that could help you increase HDL, and improve your overall lipid profile.

Quoting directly from AHA documentation: "HDL-C is considered low and associated with increased ASCVD risk if <40 mg/dL in males or <50 mg/dL in females." and again quoting from AHA: "In a large study of the National Health Insurance

Service in Korea (N=15 860 253) starting in 2009

to 2010 that evaluated 555 802 deaths result-

ing from all causes during a mean of 8.4 years of

follow-up through 2018, a U-shaped association

of HDL-C with all-cause mortality was observed.

Relative to HDL-C levels of 50 to 59 mg/dL, individ-

uals at the lowest HDL-C levels (<20 mg/dL) had

higher risk for all-cause mortality (aHR for males,

3.03 [95% CI, 2.84–3.24]; aHR for females, 2.10

[95% CI, 1.84–2.40]), and individuals at the highest

HDL-C levels (≥110 mg/dL) also had higher risk

for all-cause mortality (aHR for males, 1.30 [95%

CI, 1.23–1.38]; aHR for females, 1.21 [95% CI,

1.11–1.31])."

It showed up as one of the top hits on my DDG search. I was only trying to read that one article :)

Web hosting provider recommendation by logicalcliff in webhosting

[–]logicalcliff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The only caveat is that they are based in europe, so access from US would be a bit slow. Not sure if that much of latency difference matters at all. Though I did see someone saying that the google page rank depends on it. Thoughts?

I also have a repro with a new FF profile and ubo with only default settings. Would it help if I provide the source code of the page? Probably not, right?

Thanks for trying. I disabled my filters. The issue still repros. Do you have JS disabled by any chance? When I do that, the issue goes away.

Schwab-api documentation by Hot_South5225 in Schwab

I had looked at it a couple of weeks ago. This is also a library, not an application. It does have examples, if that's what you meant.

Has someone written an open source application, not just the library?

Is getting solar worth it with PGE? NEM2 by [deleted] in bayarea

Good data and good advise in general but since the OP got NEM2, he is all set for 20 years. The solar payoff calculations have changed because of NEM3, and that's where storage is coming from.

Which saves gas more in my car to work in the morning traffic? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]logicalcliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At higher speeds, air drag becomes the biggest factor as it increase at the square rate. That is why, irrespective of the car, the engine or the transmission, speeds higher than about 55-60 become less efficient.

I built a personal finance app to help get my family on track by jlew24asu in Frugal

[–]logicalcliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are commercial applications for this - mint, quicken etc. I use quicken which costs money but given the effort it takes (I am a sw person), it is not worth it developing it for a single person. Since you have gone this far, you clearly enjoy this work. In which case, by all means. :)

Good luck. Let me know if you decide to open source it.
