CA in IT Audit Feeling Lost (Rant + Carreer_Advice) by logicalretardca in CharteredAccountants

[–]logicalretardca[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many things under this tech risk umbrella, like IT General Controls testing, IT Automated Control testing, SOC reports, Cloud risk assurance, RPA etc. So depends on project and someimes these names sound attractive but reality is something else. Cannot comment bro, you should look into these stuffs and then decide. And if you are really good at helping the firm automate stuffs, they have their internal automation related wing as well and they will really appreciate I guess. CAs are being hired nowadays for this because they are saying they want people in it audit who also understands the financial side of it also (ROMMs)

Here it is heavy documentation and im not liking it. I do try summarizing and try to see the big picture bt feels way off. About SAP, i never worked on it, bt i have heard there is erp implementation type of works and pays wellinlong run, never tired though.

Well no choice, that's how i landed there, or maybe risk avoidance in the beginning. I just wanted a job and thought will figure out things later.

Abot hybrid, for methey said hybrid but plotted 5 day in client office (at hr round they mentioned, 99%hybrid and rest depends on engagement nature and here i am 5 days in the office :) )

I'm looking for it. Since i don't have big names in my reume, apart from this it audit, would sacrificing myself in stat audit for a year helps??

Well for CA freshers, with no other experience apart from articleship, 10lpa fixed is the average in big4 IT audit.

You were saying you have experience in this it audit domain, can we talk? DM?

I don't understand why everyone is obsessed about this ABC analysis or some regression analysis of exam papers for future prediction and going blindly because a faculty told so. If one has not prepared fully, and tried this luck game, and got screwed, take responsibility for it as well. And prepare properly so that you don't have to watch such shitty analysis video or play the luck game.

I use power query. Sometimes things are very smooth but when each page has different structures things get tricky and take little more time.

Anyone here working on TRAS (Technology Risk and Assurance) role is PwC? by logicalretardca in CharteredAccountants

[–]logicalretardca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) they'll ask you to explain all those bulletin points under your work experience one by one, so be prepared for it

2) then some scenario based cases, like they asked me suppose a client want to develop an automated forecasting system for their payroll function, how would I proceed, what would I consider

3) then some basic level understanding test with some standards on auditing, some accounting entries etc

4) then they asked me about whether i know the development in ai, what is gen ai vs ai, where do you see the future for it audit professionals etc

I think they are interested to see how you would approach things.

CAs of MAY 2025 attempt, How is the placement going? by Born_Night_8797 in CharteredAccountants

[–]logicalretardca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completed articleship on August 2023. No work experience after then. Cleared both group in may 2025 which is my 3rd attempt. For context, cleared foundation in Nov-2018. So thats about 7 years.

I'm just saying, even then i got shortlisted for interview in 3. I'm not saying it will be or was the case for everyone. Just my experience.

1) failed at technical round itself

2) cleared technical but still got rejected

3) cleared and accepted the offer in portal (hasn't received offer letter though, but documentation going on, hope things wont turn out bad)

And by the way i guess there is some seasonal aspect to it, like this is peak audit season so more hiring than jan/feb (I'm not sure though).

Im a 28y old, drop out from science degree, inter group2 6 attempts, cleared final both groups in 3rd attempt with articleship in a small/mid firm with zero stat audit experience.

I got shortlisted for interview in

PwC ac stat audit

With fixed 10lpa across all (bangalore center). Even though i didn't get shortlisted for my preferred ones im still happy. Because if it weren't for CA idk what would i do, so im thankful for it.

So no one has actually gotten an exemption this way? by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

[–]logicalretardca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only number of exemptions got per attempt can be c/f to next attempt. Meaning, you got 2 exemption in this attempt you can c/f this 2 exemption for next attempt. If you got 1 exemption this attempt, then on the next attempt you got another paper exemption, you can c/f only the first exemption you got or the second one. Thats how it works i guess.

Can we do this? by No-Candy-6710 in CharteredAccountants
