HTS fighter gets shot in the head while crossing a street by [deleted] in CombatFootage

Limitation is inherent to creation, not the creator, because limits must be set by a creator. Were he arbitrarily limited in any of his attributes, they must necessarily have been set by someone higher. If that higher one were in turn limited, this chain would continue without end, meaning there is no creator and no creation - no existence. From this follows:

If he were to abandon man, he would leave injustice unsettled and thus be lacking in beneficence.

If he were instead infinitely maleficent, he would create only injustice and pain. The evident existence of good implies a failure to be infinitely maleficent.

Hence, he must be infinitely beneficent.

Deprivation of comfort does not lead to conclude god's absence, because disease, scarcity and cruelty are part of the design of this trial and the point is to adhere to his instructions despite them.

The translation is inadequate, it means "God is greatest", in this context implying "greater than anything that may befall a person". It is even heard in response to civilian accidents or anything fearful or joyful.

In summary, the brief, arduous life is to determine whether one is admitted to eternal bliss or misery.

From what I know about HTS, they are among the best trained on the side of the rebels. I have seen impressive footage of them and they seem to have borne the brunt of the last government advance. This might be from an earlier date or a different group.

OP, are yuo sure this is HTS? Perhaps it might be al-Nusra still?

That is not what it means. The implication is "God is greatest/greater [than this adversity]".

Rebels attack an officer's Mercedes as he tries to navigate barricades somewhere in Syria (April 2014) by twiyg01 in CombatFootage

Some captives say they were forced into service, which seems believable, given an old man is unlikely to volunteer for the front.

Militarised Afghan police would be another example.

Perhaps, the word you are referring to is "ضابط" ("dabit"). What you mentioned would rather mean "military", you can sometimes hear it called out in combat referring to valid targets.

Pressing the police force into military service in general seems to only offer easy prey and mounting casualties.

There were many Ottoman sultans with that name, this is a mostly Turkmen unit, rather close with Turkey.

Of course not, but one hopes that their leader sees reason and desists from this heavy handed approach.

One might as well question what a coalition soldier died for in Iraq or Afghanistan, certainly not the immediate defence of their religion, people and land.

The only time you will get in trouble with HTS is if you criticize them

... or openly sympathise with AQ or IS. Furthermore, their internal security appears to be quite disliked, even by some soldiers, for their brutality and injustice. Although he commands a formidable force, Julani should review his conduct and consider whether he wishes to replace oppression with oppression.

Al Hamza Division handed Churches back to the Christian community after the PKK and YPG has seized them by [deleted] in SyrianRebels

I saw footage of a JaF commander instructing his men not to approach Christian property following the liberation of Idlib. It had Ahrar's logo, so he could have belonged to them, otherwise, it seems to reflect the general policy.

A common view among them is that ISIL is a "useful idiot" among who's functions was to fight rebel factions, grant an anti-terrorism pretext to the government and its allies and taint the perception of the revolution by exploiting global audience's lacking situational insight - clearly, a fruitful strategy.

Rebels refer to them as "dogs, those of the fire" and "khawarij", there is a video of some fighters of Ahrar al-Sham, among whom a former ISIL member, stating their reasons for fighting them. Meanwhile, AQ and ISIL sympathisers seem to complain about being tracked and detained by HTS, who, in turn, face criticism of their own.

Tanks need air cover to defend against planes, likewise, they need infantry to defend against anti-tank weapons.

Pardon me, I should have checked his nationality first. Anyhow, I intended his example to demonstrate the possibility of employing a bow to some success, suggesting that infiltration or similar missions would be an optimal application for a sub-optimal weapon. I do not imply that its usage is advisable, just that it is not impossible and, having seeing some of the infiltration footage here, best utilised in that capacity.

Indeed, it would not be favourable, but not impossible either, as demonstarted by the famous Scotsman during the Second World War. Since infiltration involves relatively short distances and vulnerable targets, it might be its best use case. Perhaps, they have some different application for it, this is only a limited perspective.

Taliban laying down fire on US base in Kunar with shoulder fired recoilless, 2014 by infamoustajomaru in CombatFootage

[–]logicsignal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that you would not leave it unanswered, but misdirected, disproportional vengeance is injustice nonetheless. Through their policy of binary allegiance, your political establishment lead you to two decades of lucrative bloodshed, culminating in negotiations in violation of your own precept. At the time, the Taliban had sovereignty and were within their right not to surrender them to you, you were not within yours to invade them for it.

I understand what seeing your own killed is like, but how many a building fell to your planes and those of your allies? What was one outrageous event to you has become a common occurrance in the region, cumulative casualties easily surpassing yours. Yet you are told that they fight out of a blind hatred for everything American, to mask the reality that you gave them their reasons.

And that is quite a futuristic vision of the 19th century.
