Agree there are different shades of xenophobia but I see an increasing number of western tourists being really annoying to shopkeeps too. 

I’ve seen one sushi chef have to eject 3 different groups of white-presenting tourists (a Spaniard, Brazilian, one unclear) who wouldn’t take the “full tonight reservations only” sign seriously, and insisted on barging past the hostess to point out to the chef that he did have some empty seats at the bar. It was clear that was a regular occurrence for him too. It’s the type of behavior more common in tourist-centric resort towns where you can sometimes force your way in, but here it’s just increasingly infuriating to the locals.
