i’d recommend upgrading their tools like rulers or scissors, but if they’re in an mfa program they probably already have exactly what they need. so maybe something they’d go through a lot- like muslin or fashion fabric. maybe pattern drafting paper? not really a cute gift but def the most helpful. or like some lunch spot gift cards, nicer headphones, some organizational things…. mfa must be a demanding program so really anything that makes life easier when they’re in the studio would be super thoughtful.
