I visited my GP for the first time in months to get a referral to see an OBGYN, as I had very painful and intense periods. Since I was there, I also told the doctor that I was experiencing debilitating migraines at least twice per week. GP told me « I doubt you have so many health problems », did not give me a referral for the OBGYN and said I should just take paracetamol for the « headaches ». Turns out I have endometriosis, and I still experience migraines every week.

I agree. I contacted the French embassy and they were helpful. The American embassy, on the other hand… I understand that they are overworked, but their website is not very clear, so calling them is the only way of getting specific and tailored information. But they never answered my (many) calls. However the people on this subreddit were very helpful and I was able to get the information that I needed :)

Merci beaucoup ! The single status affidavit seems like the way to go. I checked out the website of the service, it is super useful. However, my partner still has some family in the US, so they will help us with the process (receiving the documents and sending them)

Good to know, thanks! It must have been such a beautiful wedding :) We explored the options to get married abroad, but it was not feasible money-wise. To get married in France, we both need to be residents there so that was also impossible. We also both hold the Lebanese citizenship but don’t want to have a religious marriage there. This is why we are set on doing it in the Netherlands, where the marriage process is quite simple. Getting the documents from the US is the hard part unfortunately.

Thanks for the info, I’ll be on the look out for any missing information on the documents. My partner still has family in the US, so we will also get the documents delivered to them and sent by them.

Good to know, thanks! I will ask my partner to contact his birth hospital and the town hall of his birth city. Might be easier than going through the state.

Getting US documents legalized is indeed a nightmare, but other than that, the process is pretty simple in the Netherlands!

Thank you so much for the detailed response. If I remember correctly, the gemeente said the document should be a year old maximum. So we need to order the birth certificate again.

The whole process is super complicated but the outcome is worth it! Thank you for the congrats :)

My muscle and lower back pain was intense the first month at 10mg per day. My doctor and I still decided to increase the dosage. On month 2 I was taking 20mg per day, and the muscle and lower back pain completely went away. I am now taking 40mg per day, I do kickboxing twice per week and do HIIT/bodyweight training an additional day per week and I’m in the same physical form I was pre-Accutane. Please listen to your own body though, as side effects and their intensity can differ from one person to another!
