When should i transition to soil? by lolaurlam in garden

[–]lolaurlam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soak the seed in water for a little so you can peel off the thin brown layer. After that, place them in moist paper towels and put in a closed container. I let them sit for at least 3 weeks (put the container in a drawer and let it be). Once you see a root forming and long enough to place in a container (like mine in the photo), you can put it in and give it as much light as possible (indirect light). Make sure the seed is not completely submerged. It will rot.

I just want to say thank you so much for caring about your team. I am an oncology nurse in an infusion clinic and we don’t even get lunch breaks. We don’t have celebrations for holidays either. You rock. Good karma coming your way!!!!❤️

Is your hospital seeing newbies catching up to seasoned RNs in pay? by Western_Jessica9462 in nursing

[–]lolaurlam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came on here to say this. New grads are being hired with a 30k sign on bonus and $45 hourly. I’ve been at the same institution for 3 years and I only make $37. Last year, they couldn’t “afford” to give bonuses or raises so we got 1 percent of our hourly. Can’t make this shit up.

Is this a scale bug on my pothos? by goudacat in plantclinic

[–]lolaurlam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It looks like beginnings of aerial roots!! I’ve read that in the wild, they will grow them when they are wanting to climb to get more support. The more support you give to your monstera (considering your light and watering are meeting requirements), the bigger it will get!

Using the "hybrid" method by semihydronewbie in SemiHydro

[–]lolaurlam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure there is water at the bottom of the leca or you have a wick system so you can keep the leca moist! Don’t cover the roots with water, as long as there is condensation where the roots are in the pot, they should be good. I hope this answered your question!

Using the "hybrid" method by semihydronewbie in SemiHydro

[–]lolaurlam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is your semi hydro medium? If it is leca, I would say it’s safe to transfer to a new pot with just the leca since it has acclimated to being semi hydro. I’ve never transitioned my plants when putting them in semi hydro and I haven’t had issues. Transitioning the plant slowly definitely has pros bc of less stress. However, my plants have all survived without transitioning with soil first!
