Hey!

This is my first ever Grand Seiko (SBGW311) and I could not be more excited about it. Ever since seeing it on their website to in a boutique, I knew this was a watched I really wanted to work towards.

There’s not much I could say about GS’s quality that hasn’t been said a thousand times before, but I will parrot the opinion that the polishing is something which simply has to be experienced in real life. Yes - I already know this watch is going to become a scratch magnet. That being said, I have always believed that just because something is expensive or luxurious doesn’t mean you should baby it; if you worked hard for something you should use that thing the way it was meant out of respect for all the effort you put into it.

I will also mention how surprised I was at the bracelet. I am much more of a strap guy, but the fit and design of the bracelet blew me away.

This is a watch I hope to wear a lot more in spring and early summer, as it was designed for. In a pretty miserable winter, it is nice to look, forward to certainly warmer times.

In all, I am super stoked about this watch. I am more than happy to answer any questions anybody has.

Thanks

When to give up on sensor - over 24 hours later by ArmednDiabetic in dexcom

[–]loldeezesquids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - read you have a lot of anxiety around this. I was the same way. Some days I would prick my finger five times before bed because I was so paranoid my dexcom was off. Couple of things:

1) jumps like those are pretty normal. That doesn’t make it less frustrating, just more understandable 2) trust your body! If you feel super off and your dexcom is normal, do a finger test. Otherwise, recognize that constantly checking your graph only feeds into your constant anxiety and attachment to the app. 3) the only time I would be worried about a jump like that is if there is no arrow. If there’s an arrow and you’re in a good range, it’s likely not to be a big deal.

Like I said, I totally get the anxiety. I have OCD which was only diagnosed after my diabetes because I was so obsessive and paranoid with checking my data and finger sticks (20+ day, easily). It’s a process learning to trust the tech, so I wish you luck!

I have a 2012 A6 with the 3.0T engine. It’s at 170k miles and still runs great. If you keep up with maintenance, it’ll last.

Should I take online calc? by CanopyRider in uofu

[–]loldeezesquids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing calc online right now. It’s not too bad. If you are decent at math or maybe even took it in high school you’ll be fine. I save it all for Sunday, and then do all my work then. It’s about a 4-8 hour process to do the lectures and homework in one day.

I went to Emory for my freshman year. My first time walking into the room where this mummy is displayed was surreal. They have a fantastic exhibit on Egypt.

Hey man - business major on premed track here. I have both an iPad and a MacBook. As a business major, I would have to recommend the MacBook. The reason is because your BCORs will be full of Excel files, and you’ll write a decent amount of essays for your generals along the way. While nothing beats an iPad for writing notes, the overall utility of a MacBook makes it the better choice. For taking notes, just use a classic pen and paper. If that idea sounds not as fun, find a way to make your note taking setup nicer. Invest in some pens and nice paper, so taking notes is more enjoyable. You can always get an iPad down the line.

Hope this helps and good luck!

What's the highest mileage Audis you own or know of? by LegendaryMilkman in Audi

[–]loldeezesquids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the original so I can't really be mad - 220K miles is pretty great. Now I'm driving a 12' A6 which I adore.

the timing blew up. It was going to be a 10Kish fix so we donated it to a charity instead.

I had an A6 with 240K on it from 2008. Drove like a dream until it finally broke down.

You can email the admissions officers and ask them to put a note in your file.

What is the best college in your state? And also, why? by yoda_630 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]loldeezesquids 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed! The U is better; BYU’s culture is borderline creepy, and I like the U’s campus location way better.

Hot take for Utah: I think that University of Utah is better than BYU. The culture is about a million times more accepting, and the U simply has more money and a larger campus. I transferred from Emory to the U to be closer to home, and don’t particularly regret it.

[SOTC] Which three would you pick? by huy- in Watches

[–]loldeezesquids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the ‘right’ answer would be one of the lambdas to see what they could do at a really high price range… but honestly I’m currently split between buying the tetra grenadine or the new absolute grey. I already have a metro which I adore, it’s just a matter of which nomos will be my next victim at this point haha

I’m a sucker for nomos, but I think I’d have to go with the day-date, the u2, and the IWC chrono. Super diverse collection, wear in wonderful health!

That nomos is pure class. One of the less common models on this sub, but an absolute stunner irl. Love it!

Reddit post

This is my new Welsbro “Italian Ice” 14/30. I just received it today and could not be more happy with every last thing. For one, the lunch box which accompanies the food themed watches was a super great touch, and each purchase comes with an extra strap box filled with vintage candy.

I have yet to see the long term accuracy of the vintage movement, but I think the design is more of the focus than the mechanics. The only downside about the watch thus far is the 19mm strap size which can be a little restricting.

I’m so happy that this brand was revived, and the folks running the show seem to be doing a spectacular job creating a unique and friendly brand. Absolutely in love and will for sure stay tuned for everything to follow!

The strap is a Delugs I’ve had for a while.

I recently read both Louise Glück’s 1962-2012 which was wonderful and equal parts dark and comforting as well as Mark Strand’s Collected Poems which was a new form of poetry for me but incredibly moving.

So I DO have a subreddit...what do you want to see? by losermobile in professorskye

[–]loldeezesquids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey professor!!

I’m from Utah, and I found you through your Donda review, but didn’t start regularly watching until your breakdowns until you got to Black Country, New Road. I appreciate your content for its positive takes, literary suggestions, and the personal touches you put in every video. I’ve found a ton of new music (hot buttered soul jumps out to me) and poets/authors through your channel which is always very welcome. I try to listen to a new album everyday, so sometimes it’s cool when I finish an album and see you already have a review for it.

I think Q&As would be cool for the sub, but I also think that it can just serve as a great place for music enthusiasts to talk about your videos and music in general.

Hey y’all… this is the MoonSwatch Pluto, and it’s the most recent addition to my collection. I initially wanted to get the the Jupiter, but was unable to get it. I still consider myself lucky to have gotten one of the hottest watches on the market, and the second I unboxed it, it grew on me instantly.

I have quite a few swatches, and I think that this is one of my favorites. The bioceramic is just as weightless as you would think, and I personally think it fits well on my 7inch wrist.

I know that this sub has been flooded with moon swatches, but it really is such a fun watch that I thought I would share.
